It is indeed, Sunday night and it is also yet another night where I sit in solo shuffle que for an hour, staring at my character. While in que - I’m checking out some ‘Arenas’ groups - there is 1 healer looking specifically for 2.4k xp (last patch) dps player. Then, about 21 dps players each making their own group in search for a healer, sitting there - kinda like me with the solo shuffle. Then I try some rated bgs - 3 groups waiting for healer, 2 groups with ‘glad r1’ in the title but funnily - always with 1 or 2 players in them at all times. Okay I’m making my own rbg group while in solo que shuffle still - 35 minutes more have passed and there I’m yet to see a healer pop up. I alt+f4 after basically 2 hours of complete and absolute NOTHING happening. Very fun experience, will totally do it again. My chars are all 1,4k-1,6k, where I imagine most of the players are probably.
My point with this is that it is clearly an abundance of dps players, lately every post from a healer I’ve seen on here is ‘thats it im tired’ ‘its no fun to heal’ etc.
So why not have a ranked mode with all dps? I know there will always be a class thats going to be super OP in that particular mode but hasnt it been like that for like a decade? I feel like an all zug-zug and just rip each other apart like real ‘Gladiators’ would even be more fitting to the genre and pvp aesthetics, no?
So why not? Why is this not talked about, we have like 3-4 options to ranked pvp that are ALL entirely 110% dependant on the healers - not only for que times, but the modes and the actual WINNING itself? Seems like a lot of responsibillity given on a group of people that basically quit pvp healing because its just NOT FUN.
I don’t think we’d even care if the mmr is screwed up like it is now, we’d all just be happy to push a button and enter a ranked pvp mode and just … fight to the death.
From this day on I will push that agenda for as long as I breathe!
Probably because it’s a glorified death match mode. I think we need something though, because Blizzard doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to make healing in PvP enjoyable.
Yeah why don’t we have an all ret pala and rogues death match mode?
isnt this the reality right now tho?
sry im new to these forums i posted with my warr and changed to my dh but thats besides the point - i think 2-3 classes being OP is not too far-fetched from the times we’re living in today
You could normalize imbalances by making rating gains dependent on spec performance or something. I wouldn’t mind playing into strong dpouble dps comps - just want to have fun and play.
Because a rated game mode means there is at least some minimum skill involved.
There’s quite literally nothing skillful about 4 dps bashing their brains out using their entire action bar within 5 seconds.
Also Rogues exist.

This is because it is not fun to heal this pile of tauren crap that is called the current PvP design.
If balance would be switched from the braindead nukes to more setup based gameplay with slower pace, it would be easier for healer to heal this clusterfrak that is RSS.
And full dps mode would only make it worse for the classes that is easily tunnelable. Full DPS mode can be possible, if melee mobility and micro CC would be nerfed, when frost/fire mages/Boomies/Ele shamans would start to cast anything that can be interrupted. With changes like this full dps mode can be possible, or it would be even bigger pile of crap than the current RSS.
In addition, such mode should have limits - No two/three identical classes in the match, only one warrior/warlock/DH/rogue/pala/druid etc. This should promote the least played classes. So popular classes like warriors/DH/lock/DK would have a longer queue time.
But yet again it is all impossible with the current class design and balance.
dude i love ur energy
if we follow this logic then technically, a ranked game mode like dota in wc3 would be the easiest thing in the world, since your team can just ban the healers and just mexican standoff zugzug all game? well, no - it actually creates for more and more combos and stuff for people to try out to the point that not only this ranked mode has been done as a standalone game, but it is quite possibly the single most complex game ever, bar none, even chess. so I dont necessarily think thats a bad thing - look at it like variety - stuff that works in 1 mode doesn’t necessarily work in another -or maybe thats where balancing comes in? this stuff is healthy for a game that has ‘war’ at 2 places in the title i think and even more important - improves the experience for me and you, and for the player that just wants to play a ranked game on a nice weekend and doesn’t have a masochist healer buddy to que 2’s with only to be greeted by a 20 min game with 5 mins of running around pillars and waiting for cds (if not vs rogue)

A lot of specs take longer to start playing the game and can’t just instantly yolo press everything to win. Example: Affliction Warlock, Destruction warlock, Shadow priest, even Survival Hunter and some others
-
You’re not really playing the game in any kind of competitive way if you are likely going to die sub 30 seconds. There’s no strategy here, it’s literally about who can mash keyboard faster
-
Arena Skirmish already proves this. Unless there’s a Rogue or Mage, people just press all buttons, trinket once, get re-cced and die.
WoW pvp isn’t like Moba games in the sense that you can get poked, run away to your tower, return back to base to heal up and get items, etc. As you can probably gather there’s safety nets there.
The only safety net in PvP are healers, because they’re the one thing allowing you to play the game. Defensive CDs are something used in key moments so you don’t die.
Yes of course technically you can be some hybrid class, somehow recover once by offhealing behind a pillar, but that goes back to healing.
Everyone who makes a thread about “only dps” game modes are just people who are sick of waiting for Solo Shuffle queues. Well, it is what it is. Healer balance is bad, healing takes a higher skillcap and most lower rated players cannot reach it so they end up struggling, and those who do still can’t compensate DPS feeding because of having 0 game awareness.
Shuffle was set for failure since the beginning because of those factors. Yes little Timmy is having fun doing 100k dps pretending his arena enemies are mobs in a dungeon, but when little Timmy never presses a defensive and dies the healer has to suffer that loss as well.
