Any word in alpha about account wide recipes and profession knowledge?

Hello , Anyone heard if they are going to do this next expansion ?
This is a must feature nowadays .
Professions take months or even years to level due to knowledge points .
Recipes can take the same time to get or millions of gold to acquire .
We have the upcoming housing , which will require old profession skills and recipes .

It is a huge investment to level a professions .
It is slow .
And most importantly it is a trap , where whatever you spent time on to gather , is lost the moment you switch char . Imagine if transmog was character specific and you had to re gather the same transmogs on every character you level . That would suck right ? Well that’s how professions are .
Even when gearing up you have stuff like purchase welfare epics to send to you new alt from vendors . In profession we have nothing .

We have stuff like remix , timewalking experience buffs ets . You can level a new char in 5 hours . It has never been easier to switch characters , some people have like 50 80s , but Professions are stuck in Vanilla , where it took your 3 months to level 1 char .

Please add account wide knowledge points and recipes at least .

Would be just cool if they speed up the point ratio as the expansion progress, I completely decided to skip alchemy and just do a bit of herbing where there at least you get points faster.

I’m of a weird (and again unpopular) opinion on this matter. I do believe that players should not be able to become “Jack of All Trades, Master of All” in regards to professions during an expansion. Requiring players to focus on a few things and be good at these enhances the in-game economy.

But I do believe that once the expansion is over, levelling a profession from 0 to max should be a matter of days, maybe 2 weeks at most (and not even through hardcore grinding).

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

To clarify, I don’t mean that players should be spending hours every week without missing a single week to be good at what they do. I would prefer if every profession had 3-4 “specializations” with each specialization containing one BiS item that players will want throughout the expansion. And when the expansion is over, players get to learn with minimal effort how to craft everything from the specializations they didn’t select. Think of it like the choice between Engineering: Gnomish or Goblin, but allowing each to learn the schematics of each other when they are no longer relevant. Examples:

Tailoring: Largest Generic Bags OR BiS Cloth Equipment + Cloaks OR Best consumables (embroideries, tailoring-exclusive materials used in the first 3, etc.) OR Ability to salvage more cloth and even rare items from humanoids
Leatherworking: Largest Profession Bags OR BiS Leather items OR BiS Mail items OR Best consumables (like Drums, LW-exclusive materials etc.)
Jewelcrafting: BiS Gems OR BiS Neck/Rings OR Best Prospecting
Inscription: Contracts OR Best consumables (Scroll of X, Vantus Runes etc) OR BiS Equipment
Blacksmithing: BiS Plate items OR BiS Weapons OR Best consumables (like Sharpening Stones, Blacksmithing-exclusive materials etc.)
Enchanting: Best Enchants OR Best Disenchanting OR Ability to salvage rare enchanting materials from magical defeated enemies

Mining: Extract more ore per nodes OR Higher chance to extract rare materials from nodes OR Ability to salvage mining materials from enemies (including rare materials from them)
etc.

Oh i didnot mean much .i saw the name jack and couldnot resist the sentence . :squinting_face_with_tongue:

No one is talking about Jack of all trades .
It is perfectly fine having 2 profession per character .
I simply want to keep the progress I have made , when I am switching character .

Why when I buy a scroll with a recipe on it , my character learns it and than burns it away ? He doesn’t know how to fold it back again , or write it down and send a copy to my Alt in the same warband ?
He can’t teach that same alt the tricks of the trade , so my other char has to go learn it on their own again …?

It is complete nonsense .
Professions have 100 skill points to level per expansion - with midnight 11 expansions plus classic , that’s a whooping 1400 skill points to earn ),
plus up to 850 knowledge points to earn in them . Double that because we had the same in df and triple that , because it is coming in midnight .

So leveling a profession fully is :
1400 skill points
2550 knowledge points

You earn like 10-20 knowledge points a week .

That’s between 43 to 85 weeks of progress ( considering you level all of that at the same time weekly ) , erased the moment you decide that you no longer like human and want to play an orc .
Not even going to talk about the amount of gold and recipe farm you need to do .
This is simply not fair .

If people believe this is normal , than all mounts , transmog , toys , pets , consumables , items ets, should be character bound as well . So that every time people switch a character and want to ride a mount they have already EARNED , they have to go and farm for Lich King again for 85 weeks . ON EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER .

The profession thing was barely bearable before , But with DF adding hundreds of knowledge points , it simply became too much .
Fix this please .

Gotta be honest: Even my mining took a hit in TWW.
I just can’t be bothered with all these points and unlocking nonsense.

I really hoped miner, cooking, skinning, herb and fishing be account-wide skills and KP.

But yes other professions (leatherwork, tailor, ect) skills/recipes need warband well.

I have a character with enginerring/mining.

I skilled the first to 21 then I realized it his not worth for what you get, at least for me.
