I was looking forward to Dragon Flight so much and pre-purchase for both my accounts. However, I have found that I am motion sick with Dragon Riding so much so that I actual stepped down from our Raid team and Healer lead because it took me four days to level via a ground mount and the thought of having to do this for all the characters I do high end content on was just awful. I know I can just level via dungeons but I need to do the campaign and side quests at some point as well as rares and other renown tasks which on a ground mount only is going to take double if not triple the time and effort.
I understand that there are settings to change how your character is and I have tried them all as well as extra ones that other people on Google and such have suggested.
I also cannot be the only person that this is happening too. In fact, I know I am not as I have had people in Dungeons have to use the flight path because they cannot fly to the bosses. They have been joining myself on that.
I have my OH who plays and is currently taxiing me around, but this is unsuitable and means that I am limited to doing everything with him when he is free. This is not how I want to play the game. I have travel sickness bands and tablets, but it still seems to happen most or worse when the white lines appear and especially on the descents when I speed up and have more white lines.
Is there any way to turn these off? I cannot seem to find it in the settings, but they make it so much worse.
I canât even go get the Dragon Riding quests/achievements because having to close your eyes and ending up in trees and mountains is not how this was supposed to happen.
I contacted Blizzard via a ticket and was told there were no more options to help but to post any suggestions I have here. The only suggestion I have is to be able to remove the lines around the mount but does anyone have any other ideas?
Is anyone also having these issues and have you found a solution that isnât just not playing?
I have a 31" monitor and I sit about a meter away from the screen, the room is well lit and I do take breaks.
I donât want to stop playing a game I love and that I have never really had issues with before like this - except Grim Rail but the potion fixed that problem!
There are a number of us affected by the Dragon Riding.
I also get motion sickness, I have friends who are carrying me around everywhere.
The only settings that currently exist are
Dragonriding: FOV Effects
Dragonriding FOV changes do not occur if you have selected âReduce Camera Motionâ in the Accessibility > General menu.
Dragonriding: Full Screen Effects
Dragonriding top-speed full screen effects do not display if you have checked âAlternate Full Screen Effectsâ in the Options > Accessibility > General menu.
They work for some people but they arenât stopping me from wanting to throw up. If I have to be solo I try to gain height and then glide, not looking at the main screen, just at the minimap or the big map. Ofc this is quite impractical and at times you just lose velocity or hit things.

Probably wonât help but letâs give it a shot. I usually suffer from motion sickness in games too and was surprised I didnât with Dragonriding, however I was getting headaches with a bit of nausea whenever I played the game and since I am at the PC most of the day anyway, I found it a little odd. A person recommended I try to cut out blue light, which I have done with a windows 11 feature but you can also get digital overlays or glasses. My headaches and nausea have since gone. Might be worth a try if you have not already?
Isnât the reason behing reticles/cross hair in first person games motion sickness ?
Following that idea :
Maybe you could try setting a smille circle or texture in the center of your screen (with Weakauras), loading it only when dragonriding, so that your eyes can be fixed on something.
I have no idea what Iâm talking about, obviously, but the thought just occured to me.
I do get headaches if there is too much motion.
There is a Motion Sickness setting in the Accessibilty section of the settings. You can set the camera to move less. Maybe this will help you.
With Dragon Riding Iâm mostly looking at the minimap to see if Iâm on course for the yellow arrow.
the train dungeon in wod hasa potion that stops this effect. it would be cool if blizzard allowed such vendor instead of interace>setting optionsâŠadd some roleplay effect to this game
I disabled something that created flashing lights and I donât have a lot of the visual flares and whistles everybody else has, including the lines around the sides.
Many effects in WoW make me queasy/sick/uncomfortable, but I donât know whether this is motion sickness (which I generally do not suffer) or something else.
Either way, worth trying.
EDIT: I also have a lot of the motion effects disabled because they make the game harder to play.
Do you have any idea what you did? its the flares I think that are causing the majority of my issues as I can glide and coast without too much sickness but going fast barrel rolls and anything that makes those white lines appear make it so much worse than anything I have ever experienced.
I get vertigo and nausea with it. With the motion sickness settings turned on I just get vertigo, nausea and disorientation during the races. Well I say âjustâ vertigo because the effects last for sometimes hours after I stop playing, and sometimes I get hours long lingering stomach aches too.
Sometimes I also get just randomly disoriented and have to stop for a bit until it passes. Itâs not fun.
Honestly I cannot wait for normal flying so I can play the game without feeling sick.
I have Alternate Full Screen Effects set to on. Disabling it makes me uncomfortable and I feel restricted in vision. For motion sickness I have keep character centered and reduce camera motion. Camera shake is off. In my case this is simply because it makes the game easier, but if it helps for you itâs probably motion sickness and you can turn this off and itâs all good.
Particle density is a funny one. If I play as a Moonkin with glyph of stars I need to turn it down to at most high (settings might have changed since I played moonkin), otherwise I just stare at the screen during Starfall.
This is actually not motion sickness, itâs epilepsy, so if you find yourself in a situation where the motion sickness settings donât help but alternate full screen effects and particle density does, Iâd recommend getting yourself checked. Might be nothing - probably is - but just in case. Itâs a common sign.
â Simulator sickness is a form of motion sickness related to interacting with a simulated environment. It can be caused, for example, by discrepancies between the simulated vehicle motion in a simulator and the userâs perception or expectation of motion.â
