Anyone else misses the eye?

Hej all,

I just entered the maw as it has been my daily routine for a long time, and I was wondering, does anyone who has progressed further in the 9.1 quest where the eye is removed, misses it also?
I mean, I liked the eye feature, some kind of limitation of the amount of time you could spent in a place. Not saying I want it back, but not having the “pressure” of making the right decisions for the day makes it just another thing to do.

May Elune be with you!
X.

NO! Absolutely NO! I hated the Maw, now… I don’t mind it.

I never minded the Eye, because I hardly ever got above Tier 2: I saved my souls and left for the rest of the week. Don’t miss it much, either, mind you, but not having it doesn’t make me spend more time in the Maw (apart from Korthia, Korthia is nice).

“right decision” ? which was just following the same route of killing elites and named mobs til you filled up the eye every day, not very interesting or engaging imo

Thanks for the replies

@Stork: Yeah, I know a lot of people hated the eye (Time gating and such) .

@Ancelyn: Those days I also had a lot, but sometimes, if you killed a few rares and did a few quests, especially on a Wednesday for example, I got to tier 5 and had to get out of the maw.

@Lycial: I can imagine that if you do the same route every day, but that I did not do

I never did the quests the same day I saved souls, though. Ever. I saved my souls on Wednesday, then if I felt like it, and was super bored, I went in and did Ve’nari’s quests some other day. Maybe. But I usually didn’t bother.

I did get to Tier 4 once, when I tried to max out the Maw. But quickly decided that doing so is not worth neither the time, nor the effort, and there’s much better use of my time, so ended up skipping most of the Maw for the rest of 9.0.

I kind of like the idea in principle and maybe if it wasn’t done in the Maw I’d enjoy it.
But it is in the Maw and I don’t like the Maw without this added annoyance and this doesn’t help.

I wonder what Timeless Isle would have been like with it…

Good question! But think it would get even more screams then, as people can’t farm all rares every day :stuck_out_tongue:

Sometimes, the best of two extremes lies in between. I do not miss the effects of the eye building up quickly and becoming annoying as hell, effectively discouraging me from enjoying the Maw or doing anything but the bare minimum there.

But I would have missed the same idea with a different execution, a similar eye with penalties and effects building up more slowly and being less punishing. Of course, having areas with mob density like it’s Mumbai in rush hour, being pursued by 5 mobs slowing or rooting you constantly, doesn’t help.

Makes me wonder if design criteria are currently too narrowly focused on keeping up those paying subscriptions or making the game actually fun.

Had to look up how the Maw was presented to us long time ago  Think the Maw is not designed to be enjoyed.

And that is just utter stupidity.
A game should be enjoyable to play. Period.

They already made this mistake before with Argus. That place was also meant to be ‘not nice to be in’, but this is a game where we NEED to be in a zone for various things. So enjoyability should ALWAYS come before anything.

Sure there are games that are punishing and grueling and just plain nasty to play, BUT people who buy such a game usually buy it for THAT reason.

WoW has never been that kind of game, so it shouldn’t try to be now. Because most people who bought it, did so for completely different reasons.

There was very little reason to be in the Maw though, if you didn’t want to. I like that they dared make a zone actively hostile.

Thankfully yeah. I ignored it, besides the weekly souls rescue.

But there lies the problem for me. I ‘had to’ ignore world content, which is my preferred type of content. So I had even less content to enjoy than I normally already have (and on top of that 9.0’s world content was extremely lacking, period - so yeah I HATED the Maw not only for being what it was, but also for taking away from the content I normally love playing most).

I hate it. I don’t want them to ever do that again.

Each to their own. :relaxed:

Yeah, same, don’t miss it like that.

Thankfully, you don’t! As long as you find someone else who still has the eye, you can help kill their assassins or w/e, and that counts towards your achievement, too.
