Only if we get to as the player experience it.
Make a void elf paladin, go into the area, and activate the ritual. Either ascend to paladin and portal to stormwind, or start gleaming with power til exploding.
Continously having to make a new char til success. 
It’s not explanation it’s a lore breaking fan service to appease fetishists. It’s not only for warlocks. For those they already used cheap Krokul justification. SL level crap. It wasn’t planned. Demons are naturaly evil and feast upon life and magic. There are no good demons, thos who decide to become good get cleansed of Fel like Avrus. They are evil even if they are against Legion. They shouldn’t be playable at all. I hope they will be cleansed as the questline isn’t up yet.
Also I want to play Naaru Death Knight. I WANT MY FUN NOW!!!
