Anyone else think SoD went too extreme with powercreep?

I really thought that classic SoD was going to remain simple. A few specs like retribution, shadow and balance getting a few extra tools to help them out in PvE, perhaps warriors who were already good would see 2h arms being viable in PvE, or deep spec prot would be useful outside of tanking.

What I see now is an extreme version of that.

Aside from the extreme power creep in runes, it also happened with items. BFD gear was way too powerful, and from there on out, the powercreep was already settled.

How is it explainable that gear we got in Gnomeregan was already more powerful than whatever gear professions could craft past level 225? Look at the imperial set that which we can equip at level 55. Gnomeregan gear is already better than that.

I do not understand why this was so needed. It’s a complete disrespect to actual classic. Same with how BG reputation is handed out as candy. It was perfectly fine the way it was, but it could get a boost to reputation given through BGs, I agree on that.

There are so many things we could have used from Classic that remains useless.
Wayleid supplies are just a better version of the darkmoon faire. PvP events could have been added to zones that already needed it, like Desolace for example.

Alliance have access to Wildhammer clan as a reputation, but it’s useless! This could’ve been a creative way to add PvP objectives and a new PvP reputation by giving the Horde reputation with the Revantusk Trolls.

And speaking about PvP, the devs are so fixated on making this game retail lite with PvE that PvP got completely screwed over as a whole.

SoD is starting to become a failure in my eyes from devs who do not understand the magic of classic and can not captivate it for people again. You simply lost players because you took away the journey, added incursions as a band aid fix and screwed over the economy aswell.

If classic era servers didn’t exist then I could agree with you - but they do. So those that prefer traditional classic still have access to it.

I for one find this SoD pace kinda fun; but every now and again I like to bimble around on era toons.

I don’t understand why people use this argument. It’s in the name itself classic season of discovery. It shouldn’t be made into retail lite. That they added new items, isn’t bad. It’s bad how all the new items they added are vastly superior than anything else you can get at level 25, 40 or 50.

Yes.

I enjoy SoD alot but I wouldn’t mind Classic + where they tweak some specs to make things viable and implement some QoL changes with new content.

However, as this community has proven time and time again people are never happy and they would flame Blizzard CONSTANTLY to get the change they want implemented and we’d end up with Retail.

phase 1 was a home run. phase 2 was bad. phase 3 killed the game.

its too late to undo the damage incursions have done. it was too late 3 weeks ago.

project epoch comes out in 2-3 months and that is what classic+ should have been (an actual classic+) so once that comes around - unless blizzard stops sitting on their thumbs and actually get real with us - SOD dies off 100% or at least becomes a ghost town.

go take a look at their hype trailer. its very impressive what they have managed to accomplish, it honestly straight up puts blizzard to shame.

blizzard with their gazillions of dollars are once again being completely clowned on by a couple of guys in a basement.
embarrassing really.

Why?

Big numbers = :]
Simple as.

Game’s balance is completely screwed up. So many items in base game are made unviable with SoD that it turns a lot of progressions into a complete and utter joke.

I think I said this since early phase 2 that they should have scaled everything down back then, but they didn’t. I even said that phase 3 should be postponed until they figure the balance out so that it doesn’t compound upon the issue, it wasn’t and was instead pushed out without a PTR (because that was a brilliant decision). And if we’re this far in with no downscaling to our power creep then it’s not going to happen. SoD’s balance is a complete :poop:-show.

Don’t take it seriously. Enjoy what is enjoyable, when that runs out stop playing the game. Cause they’re not fixing this. It needed fixing since phase 1. They don’t care, they prolly moved on to Cata Classic anyway as it has more monetization methods.

Classic era has like no more than 4 thousand players or something and almost every endgame is gdkp. If you can’t swipe, you basically can’t get loot. And most people prefer progressive content instead of naxx already

All ways from classic will always lead to Retail. You see it when you read the forums. The reason retail is how it is is because people push it (probably don’t want it) that way.

The hard part for game devs is too have a vision and execute their vision. If SoDs vision was getting close to retail it’s fine but I doubt it was it. It was more like Classic but with tweaking the bad things to be better. (Making all classes viable and so on)

The biggest sin the devs did is that leveling in the world is non existent. Which for me, is the main part of classic.

They got some fast gratufication but this decision will let them suffer in the long run because the memories people will have are now incursion and not funny opens world moments.
