AoE abilities very sensitive

If I need to put an AoE ability down like earthquake or blizzard - I use my keybind to click the button, and then it often just puts the ability where my mouse is, or even on me.

So often with earthquake in particular it drops it straight away on me, rather than on my target area.

Any ideas why? I’m sure it’s just a setting somewhere

You will probably be better off using Macros for this sort of spell. Then you can set it to always drop it at the cursor position.

What I want it to do is not be used until I click basically.

Right now if I do ALT+2 = Earthquake, it seems to just put it on my position before I get to click.

Have a read through the wowhead link i posted it tells you how to do it there.
"When you press the button, the default functionality shows you the reticle on the ground at the location at your mouse cursor. When you click again, the ability will start to cast. "

Alt usually is the default keybind for “cast on self” change the keybind and it will work.

Perfect, I will try that.

While I’m here, I just downloaded grid 2 and seem to have it setup.

But any idea how I move the frames somewhere else on the screen? When I go into edit mode it’s not highlighted (as that’s just blizzard own stuff)

No idea about other UIs, being using ElvUI since WoD.

I dont sorry, found this on a google search though, might help.

I figured out the AoE thing.

It was the press and hold casting.

It must be pretty sensitive with AoE stuff. Figured it out with my druid and efflorescence.

Will test on Shaman soon

Great, Glad you got it working!

Yes, I had that on my warlock too.

Happens more frequently with bigger lag.

Edit:
I think it works like that:
If you hold an AoE for a minimum amount of time, the AoE will start casting at your cursor. Now with lag, even if you press the button quickly, it will trigger.

If you wanna use “hold to cast”, I’d recommend a @cursor-marco for your AoE. You’ll also save some time and do 0.00001% more dmg :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Takes some time to get used to, but it’s nice!

That is incorrect. I tried that and the same thing happened. It is if you have Press and Hold Casting enabled it happens.

Then the reticle alternates between showing when pressing Earthquake and just placing it where your mouse is located at.

Yeah basically - even a slight extra hold and it just puts it wherever the cursor is.

I much prefer having to properly click.

P.S - how do you do quotes?

Mouse highlight what another person said in their post and “quote” will show up in a box near the text. Click that. It’ll put a quote in your reply window.

That’s such a weird way of doing it imo!

Usually there’s just a button…

But thanks, much appreciated
