So recently WoWhead have posted that the Kor’kron War Wolf has been datamined in the Trading Post for 8000 Tenders.
The mount was rewarded for killing Garrosh on Heroic difficulty before WoD came out, earning “Ahead of the Curve” (the difficulties were labelled differently then, as it was LFR/Flex/Normal/Heroic which is now LFR/Normal/Heroic/Mythic).
So I have mixed feelings about this.
On one hand I earned the mount in the day by killing Garrosh - and it was not easy. I must have pugged this boss so many times, and so many groups would end up disbanding and wiping on Garrosh because it was such a hard fight. Bringing it back does cheapen the prestige of having done it at the time, and opens the door for all time-limited items to return later: other AotC mounts, Gladiator mounts, Ashbringer, Mage Tower etc.
All the “I was there back then” items that symbolise your WoW history.
But also I don’t mind things like this returning, and being more accessible, because it’s been a long time and I’ve had my fun.
What I would say however is I do object to these coming back on the Trading Post!
Items like this, that were earned by completing challenging tasks, should never be something sold at a vendor for Tendors.
If the Kor’kron War Wolf returns, then so should a scaled up version of Siege of Orgrimmar as a timewalking/timerunning event. It should be as difficult as current tier raiding, and you should have to kill Garrosh on the “Heroic” difficulty in order to get the mount. If that happened, then I would be happy for the mount to return, and I’d love leading my guild through the raid again to earn the mount.
TL:DR Yes to bringing them back. No to selling on the Trading Post. Yes to having to complete whatever challenge was required the first time, scaling it to modern day.
