AotC Mounts on Trading Post

So recently WoWhead have posted that the Kor’kron War Wolf has been datamined in the Trading Post for 8000 Tenders.

The mount was rewarded for killing Garrosh on Heroic difficulty before WoD came out, earning “Ahead of the Curve” (the difficulties were labelled differently then, as it was LFR/Flex/Normal/Heroic which is now LFR/Normal/Heroic/Mythic).

So I have mixed feelings about this.

On one hand I earned the mount in the day by killing Garrosh - and it was not easy. I must have pugged this boss so many times, and so many groups would end up disbanding and wiping on Garrosh because it was such a hard fight. Bringing it back does cheapen the prestige of having done it at the time, and opens the door for all time-limited items to return later: other AotC mounts, Gladiator mounts, Ashbringer, Mage Tower etc.
All the “I was there back then” items that symbolise your WoW history.

But also I don’t mind things like this returning, and being more accessible, because it’s been a long time and I’ve had my fun.

What I would say however is I do object to these coming back on the Trading Post!
Items like this, that were earned by completing challenging tasks, should never be something sold at a vendor for Tendors.

If the Kor’kron War Wolf returns, then so should a scaled up version of Siege of Orgrimmar as a timewalking/timerunning event. It should be as difficult as current tier raiding, and you should have to kill Garrosh on the “Heroic” difficulty in order to get the mount. If that happened, then I would be happy for the mount to return, and I’d love leading my guild through the raid again to earn the mount.

TL:DR Yes to bringing them back. No to selling on the Trading Post. Yes to having to complete whatever challenge was required the first time, scaling it to modern day.

how is it that

I don’t care myself. If there is something on the Trading Post I already have then I have more tendies to spend on other things.

It was not hard at all only the Cutting Edge version was hard , there was so many boosting groups doing it for free to help people get there heirlooms as well.

10man version you could 1 tank and 1 heal it so i fail to see how it was hard as you just stacked. The fight could be done on 10man normal to get curve so it really is a moot point.

Depends if you feel like any ingame reward should also be available through Tenders as an alternative path to earning.

I mean I would love the Grove Warden to return, but I’d rather take my guild through the raid and earn it as a team, mimicking the original methodology of earning, then simply buying it at the trading post. Feels a bit hollow to me.

dont worry sooner or later ppl will realise they can just wait it out cuz it’ll be free with tenders, aotc then ksm then glad then elite sets etc

Well I could say timing every M+ dungeon at +20 is easy and getting Keystone Hero, because I’ve done it every season I’ve cared to without too much difficulty. Doesn’t mean it’s “not hard”.
It was hard at the time, especially in a pug group. Most pug groups failed on Garrosh, and I was in plenty of them. Had I been in a raiding guild I know we would have smashed it though.

No it was not Curve was easy whilst Cutting Edge was not please stop projecting.

No they really did not , i have no idea were you are getting this very blinkered view from.

We were the realm first guild for CE back then and posted on these forums that we’d be helping people get the mount on a certain day.

We “boosted” hundreds of people for free in an afternoon because we’re nice.

In hindsight we beat the “friendship moose” to the concept and all of these boosting communities, I’m actually a massive trendsetter(!)

Jokes aside, I agree in principle. It was just interesting to me that you remember this fondly because it was a challenge you had to work to overcome etc, it was just a +1 to me.

Yes it was.

Because I was in them and saw it firsthand. Most pug groups wiped on Garrosh until they disbanded. It was rare for one to succeed, not sure how many pug groups you did?

If you were trying to pug cutting edge maybe but as for curve doing it on 10man normal was such an easy joke . 1 healer , 1 tank rest mixed dps and just stacked there was nothing to the fight.

they wil add ksh portals to the trading post stop fighting

Add invincible for 8k tendies and il start saving all :sweat_smile:

I could see the problem if it was Cutting Edge mount or the “Chosen” armour but a curve mount that is ugly and was easy to get it just beggars belief.

I mean it’s a bit of a redundant argument arguing about how hard Garrosh AotC was. Was it a 7? Was it an 8? If I went back now would it be a 6 or a 5? It’s not really the point.

I mean the Mage Tower challenges weren’t that hard, bringing them back showed that, but if you put the original appearances on the Trading Post that would still be annoying compared to having people have to do something for them.

Those are totally different as they scaling is completely off , some are easier now whilst some are tougher you can not compare a raid to a solo fight.

If they put the CM and Mage tower skins on for tinder it would not bother me as it would finally shut people up. Its just a mount end of the day which was very easy to get.

Clearly this is only a tease to see how the community would react. AOTC is the least interesting FOMO so it is perfect for testing this.

I think it is good if these stuff are brought back. Indeed, if it wasn’t “free”, then it shouldn’t be “free” later either; it should pose the same/similar challenge as it required to acquire originally.

And people saying time-limited stuff are a reason to play really need to emotionally detach from these pixels. Time-limited or not, people would still go for it the day it becomes available, because the real craving hits in the day you could have it but don’t have it yet. If someone said I could get current season elite set 2 years later, I’d still get it in the first week of the current season. The real value is in having, and having ASAP - let’s be real.

Good. Let all exclusivity die.

And 8k Tender is STILL several months of saving up.

+1 for this.

AotC mounts are not prestigious at 20% of profiles having them when you can buy aotc for 100k right now. They are more common that some new vendor ones not gonna lie.
