This is more of like a ‘please fix this’ post. I know it’s not a hugely popular spell, but it’s something extremely handy, and the fact that it’s been broken all expansion long has been irritating. As we’re heading into Shadowlands, it’d be nice to be able to speak the languages again, not just understand them.

I am not sure if they can really fix it without remaking the spell thanks to their spaghetti code. They probably reused Arcane Linguist code to make elixir of tongue (the thing that lets you understand opposite faction’s language) and being able to speak the languages caused bugs to the elixir. Wanting to fix that, they also messed up our Linguist.
I wish we got that fixed, but it’s unlikely.

It makes me so mad! It was great for RP, but it was just a fun little thing that mages got to do. I really wish they were able to go in and fix it.

Does it really change that much in RP? You understand the languages, and you can still type out, say, [Gnomish] in front of your message.
