Arcane player struggling to find other classes/specs to play, what other classes do you mage players enjoy?

I like creating and playing alts but I just can’t seem to find anything that will make me feel at home as an Arcane player. I don’t really care about the meta, I just want to have something other than Arcane to play that might click with me nicely. What other classes do you guys enjoy?

I’d suggest Elemental Shaman, it’s got an easy baseline similar to the Arcane Mage which you can talent around with passives, but you can make the rotation vastly more complicated if you wish, often with great rewards.

You can stick to a 3 button baseline rotation with a maintenance DoT - Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, Flame Shock and Earth Shock (Earthquake in AoE - similar to AM swapping to AE in AoE) if that’s what you want.

You have the option to add extra abilities like Icefury, Frost Shock, Elemental Blast and Echoing Shock to the mix.

You also have the option to further empower all you abilities by weaving Lava Bursts between everything else with the Master of the Elements talent.

Sv hunter is really enjoyable and has mostly been my main last two expansions. Recently delved into the mage again and have to say i really enjoy this one.

After playing a mage for 11 years straight (had no other alt) I decided to try the Balance druid, and I’m loving it so much!
The tool kit of druids is so amazing it’s actually hard to jump back on my mage and play it when I need to.
Convoke is a fun spell and balance overall feels powerful, something I haven’t felt with my mage in the past few years.
The only big downside for me is that travelling takes a lot longer without my mage’s portals, but other than that it’s super fun.

It is a hard one to answer because I do not really play arcane. Mage is a class I picked up near the end of BFA.

Classes that I have played before and really liked were paladin (mainly prot and from Legion on Ret) and monk (mainly brewmaster and mistweaver.) I’ve played hunter as well (BM) but it got a little stale really fast, and also midly irritating because of your reliance to your pet.

Currently other than my mage I am maining warlock on Alliance side. I originally started with affliction, but currently I am playing destruction.

I tried survival until level 60 and honestly loved it but it also felt weird at some points (being COMPLETELY unable to generate focus without my pet, having my only AOE spender on 6 sec cd etc). I liked the general feeling of shooting my enemy from distance, sending my pet in then jumping in myself, throwing bombs at enemies etc but I have a feeling like the spec was missing something to make it complete.

Yeah I love balance druid, the only thing that annoys me in this class is the feeling that I’m wasting so much time and GCD on reapplying Moonfire on every single target during huge pull. Convoke is amazing and I really like that you can finally play Full Moon as an actual viable talent option. Really thinking about getting my druid to 60.

I really like destruction lock’s playstyle and feeling. It has many slow but powerful casts so it feels kinda similar to arcane. It also feels like what I always wished a fire mage would be (instead of the machine gun-combust playstyle it has now)

It has what I feel many want fire mage to be currently: slower hardcasts that hit hard, and instead of being extremely burst based its damage is consistent. You do not drop off the charts with Destro as much as you do with Fire.

I don’t get your logic. “Feel at home as an arcane player”. Play arcane to “feel at home as an arcane player”.

I enjoy playing Demology Warlock, Assassin Rogue, Ret Paladin and MM Hunter at the moment. Elemental Shaman and Balance druid are alot of fun to play aswell. There are so many good choices.
