"If you’re unwilling to adjust the % drop rate of the rarer 359s, add the fragment trader at 1:1 or 0.8:1 so that all time spent doing Archeology is valuable time spent. You also unlock more of the world instead of 90% of your population making laps of Eastern Kingdoms. To be clear, I think the “roll chance” for the epics is totally fine, it’s how that translates into “time spent” where there is inequity.
We have years of foreknowledge and changes available to us as the dev team intermittently understood how painful a grind Archeology is, regardless the original intended design, the game has evolved and changed.
You can make subtle adjustments without de-valuing the rarity or required time investment for these powerful items. Keep it at 1/458, 1/800, or whatever the actual drop rate and corresponding math is, but allow us the autonomy to trade and spend fragments how we wish.
Flying literally 20,000 yards to four digsites that offer no fragments toward our end goal isn’t good design. And that’s not an opinion, that’s been proven by hotfixes and patches over the years that the player base is already aware of. The sentiment around Archeology, around Legion legendaries, around other “painful” grinds is known, and was fixed in future iterations… simply give us aspects of those future iterations."
Maybe changing the drop rate % or making a bad luck protection system is too hard to do and just putting a trader is a way easier fix for Blizzard. I don’t really know, but it’s clear that everyone is unhappy with the current system and anything would be better than this kind of grind.
