I’m not really all that bothered about what happens to the archaeology profession; whether it’s left as it is or if it’s made account wide. What I would like, however, is to find more than just orc, dwarven or night elf artifacts when levelling and then arakkoa once you get to Draenor. Admittedly I kind of forgot about archeology once I’d got to Legion but never did I find any human, troll etc artifacts - just what I listed above. It’s kind of what made me not really bother with it that much now.

I mean, these are secondary professions. Why would anyone do them on multiple alts, when they could just become account-wide, along with their associated achievements?
Primary professions are a personal choice. Secondary professions are universal.

another change that’s requested a lot but not needed in the end.
if you are into arch at all, you will do it on 1 character. There’s no reason to do it on any other chars (contrary to having multiple engineers for example - crafting sky golem cd’s etc)
What if one wishes to change mains though?

And no, the ‘acquired power’ explanation does not stand. One thing is obviously needing new gear and skills for each alt, another is a profession which mostly awards account bound rewards anyway.
I only do it on one character, unless I’ve picked it up while levelling because sometime it gives good xp but mostly I just do it on my main.
I don’t think everything can be account bound but I can see how people who switch main frequently may find it a nuisance.

I found it very ‘interesting’ to learn that Shadowlands won’t be including any updates for Archaeology after all:
I cannot imagine it being removed as it happened with First Aid due to the sheer amount of achievements (and mounts!) related to it… but it certainly does look like it may be phasing out, as if it was a ‘past expansion’ feature…
Still wish it was account bound and/or with traceable common fragments though. I’m sure there could be a market for those scavenged antiquities.
