no it is like running bare feet and grandad clothes while others are using ultra marathon shoes, smartwatches and technical gear. If you are trained you can beat the best dressed ones.
You could also just look at your buff bar and see if you have PI, just a thought.
Can track this without a WA with one simple trick, have someone who has a brez put it on their bar and it shows the cd! Crazy right? They can even communicate with you through discord and let you know when it’s ready.
Not an addon. You can make a macro like that too.
Also not super hard, if in PvP you can see when they use one on their buffs and just say “it’s X minutes until it’s ready” etc.
Well. Depends on how you interpret “cheating”.
Coming to marathon barefoot and seeing somebody coming with marathon sneakers.
Well…they “clearly” have an advantage over you but is that considered “cheating” as well? I doubt it…
Cheating just means violation of the rules. If it doesn’t violate the rules, it isn’t cheating.
If I go to a spelling competition that permits the use of a spellchecker, using one isn’t cheating.
but no spelling competition would allow a spellchecker checkmate it would be like allowing you to bring a calculator to a math exam
and i dunno about you but back in my day that was cheating
Of course they are not cheats. Addons take information that is displayed in your standard UI and rearrange it one way or another, either by making it more prominent, or less prominent, displaying it in a different space of your screen or even in your headphones. Addons or not, you already had access to the same information regardless with just the standard game UI.
Cheating would mean either somehow modifying the way the game processes events or the content that is processed, like memory scanning for a certain pattern to then create a fly hack or an interrupt bot or to grant yourself unearned resources, or some kind of social collusion that goes against the game rules of conduct, such as wintrading in pvp or selling / buying so-called “game services” for real money in either pve or pvp.
Cheating implies a violation of rules of some sort, which addons are not.
Blizzard designed the game for addons so people can customize their UI and information they want to get displayed in some kind of way. It is difficult to call something “cheats” when this is exactly what blizzard wants.
and the 4th person enters the chat ^^…
yes this forums is that predictable.
like a broken record same arguments different thread this forums at times ^^
never change people.
EDIT: did i really just predict the future omgeeerrdd
war … war never changes … nor does the warcraft forum
Who is against addons tho?
The world questers or the pet battle people.
Cause it sure aint the raiders or pvpers either.
I dont even know what he tries to prove (he is actually on ignore), but i am currently playing this whole season even without dbm. This guy is only here to offend, so even ignored, i will flag this post. He is not argumenting for or against addons. He is just against people.
I am not even pro addons. I would prefer blizzard to create a better customizable UI. But well, blizz made the choice to go the addon way. So here we are.
not really proving anything Tsjoh
other than sometimes this place makes me feel like im stuck inside a time bubble…
i knew the direction this thread was gonna take and the people who would show up to post in it before it happened lol and exactly the arguments they would make…
i even knew you would mention the fact u had me on ignore and try to make some remark about it to make me look pointless…
it’s just predictable lol…
it’s crazy how often this happens on this forums.
am i the only person to notice it ?
i’m neither for or against personally…
my view is “meh” at best.
if the addon is good use it… if its cheating and allowed who cares…
unless blizzard ban it, it does not matter.
Cheating is someting that breaks the rules.
Addons are not cheats.
Agreed, until told otherwise. (officially)
These are not cheats because Blizzard allows addons. The company provides a separate folder for them. Blizzard allows add ons because players do all the work on QoL improvements for free. Then, after devs see that some add ons are best to implement in-game, this feature is added into the game.
So, no, all add ons that are allowed or not banned by Blizzard, are not cheats but QoL improvement features created by players.

i would argue that cheating is acccess to information that you do not have with the base ui but that’s just me and that people’s obsession with addons have ruined wow since now the devs build around the addons
personally i have not nor will i ever use addons if that makes me one of the uncool kids im fine with that heck for example people argue there no exploration or mystery in wow anymore but you know if there was exploration most of you would download a addon to tell you where everything is
I think you are exagerating a tiny bit here. Most addons are just used to move actionbars around and get partyframes in the middle of your screen instead of on the left somewhere in no-mans-land.
and then you have weak aura’s and deadly boss mod and all the other crap
