Are Covenants and Soulbinds a thing after Shadowlands?

I’m wondering if covenants and soulbinds are a thing after Shadowlands?

When playing a pure DPS class I can image the current system doesn’t bother you too much, but for hybrid classes (or as alt) the systems are annoying. Having to switch conduits depending on spec is a pain when queuing for more than one role. In worst case you would even have to switch covenants.

Anyways, I hope not

Generally the answer is no. Artifacts aren’t a thing after Legion. Heart of Azeroth essences and corruption aren’t a thing after BfA. At best these things exist but they’re not something you pay any mind for future expansions.

I Just hope the next expansion is not a system in a system.
Want to play MY class/spec freely.

NO? this is the heart of azerize system but we call it covenants
what happend to heart of azerite? they scrap it
so what will happend to covenants and soulbinds? they will scrap that too
Of course you will use it when you go into shadowlands content to have the BONUS power etc just like HoA

We can pray that they will stop doing this every new expansion and maybe this time around will be different cause from what i saw about s4
next expansion is going to be released next year
so i think next expansion is gonna be BIG in terms of changes

I can imagine that Soulbind effects and covenant offensive signature abilities gets removed (or less likely be limited to Shadowlands).
While defensive/mobility covenant signature abilities either will work in legacy content only up to and including Shadolwands, or they will be limited to only work in Shadowlands.

I will fondly be waving them farewell when we get to move on.

Good news- Like any other “new fun and exciting” system it will retire after the expansion is over.

Bad news- It will get replaced with a newer “new fun and exciting” system that is equally as bad or worse.

I kind of get why they want some new system to make first months of a new expansion interesting, to bring something new to the table. Just wish it would retire after season 1 of the expansion.

Something like “There is a new challenge for players, here are some powers to help getting over the first hurdles”. And after those hurdles, players are geared, more powerful, the powers are not needed anymore. Otherwise all content will be trivial an not npc’s a nuisance and just scenery filler (like in Korthia and Zereth Mortis)

I think they are so far down the rabbit hole of systems that there will be more of them next expac. I think best case scenario is that they have learnt something and they are toned down and not limited to some “meaningful choice”. They learnt that the AP grinds of Legion and BFA weren’t popular, so they do learn sometimes. Unfortunately some of the lessons they learnt were soon forgotten later.
All we can do is hope.
They don’t understand playing different specs let alone playing different alts. So I’m not very hopeful.

Only one I’ll miss is The Hunt for my DH. :frowning:

Doubt they’ll continue with it but it would be good if they were add as talents or something. Maybe have Covenanters continue but disable legendary soulbinds etc so it is just the ability.

I can see them doing this in a Cypher Console type way. It works in certain zones or maybe all zones for the expac.

If they do it needs to be Account Wide or strong alt friend style catch ups.
