Honestly I pass by lots of water spots and I rarely see a fishing nodes. Most of the time I have to fish random. Is this normal or am I missing something?

I don’t remember ever seeing this. Not sure how these ever worked, though right now you can use bait for specific fish.
They’re infrequent for sure, but the vendor bait is so effective that looking for nodes is a waste of time anyway.
Yes, nodes are more rare. But that’s a compensation for us having baits
Last time fish schools were a thing was in Legion. Since BfA, it is much more efficient to just find a spot and fish instead of running around looking for specific schools, since in BfA it was 50-50 which of the two available fish you got, and in SL it’s something like 75-25 between the fish you have the bait for and Lost Sole.
Honestly I’m not sure why schools are still in the game, they serve no function and have no point.
