Are Homosexual themes represented in World of Warcraft

I was just curious. I know straight love is represented like with Mankirk and his wife and other love stories between male and females. But is there any gay love in WoW that you have noticed? Share your thoughts.

There is that one deathwing quest in Badlands where a male blood elf loves that orc guy and you have to choose between him and 3 female npc’s

There’s a steamy romantic novel with it in and also in Legion a lesbian ghost couple.

But really I would be quite happy with no romance in general…

I have to agree here. WoW opts out of needing to balance representation by not representing sexuality at all. Like sure, we know Mankrik has/had a wife… but it’s not a thing that’s ever made a fuss of. There’s no romances or seductions, no red light districts, or couples in power.

There are some NPC flirts, like the brewfest gnome, but she flirts with everyone, regardless of gender, species, or physical practicality were she to succeed in said flirt.

Now, I’ve no objection if there’s a questgiver somewhere who asks us to track down his boyfriend, or her girlfriend - but I really hope they never put focus on sexuality of any kind. This is a game about fantasy and magic and monsters and demons, not who’s courting who, or who seduced who into doing what.

Tyrande and Malfurion?
Jaina and Arthus?
Medivh and Garona?

Also Sylvanas and Nathanos are heavily implied to have had/to be having a romantic relationship.

Heterosexual relationships are indeed represented within the Warcraft universe.

Short answer:

“keep politics out of gaming and just make good games.”

Jabs like these I like though, I did the ‘female’ blood elf to annoy the orc! Yup saved your ‘girlfriend’.

Thrall and Aggra. You literally attend their wedding and they have a child.

Of course!

Dont we have like 4 variants of elves ?

Who cares? This is just a game with no sexual overtones. If it bothers you there’s something else you should get checked, not the game.

Wait, Medivh and Garona is a thing?

Anyway. I’ll take it on the chin, there are some couples in WoW. I’ve been playing since vanilla with several breaks - there was a lot to forget

However; I personally have never felt that the plot is driven by couple dynamics, and I’m quite happy with that. I’m relatively sure that none of our major plot arks have been because someone seduced someone, slept with someone, or cheated on someone.

I have no objection to some same-gender NPC couples in the landscape. There are families of NPCs in human zones - it’s cool by me if not all of them are mum, dad, and kids. I don’t have a problem if we get a quest from an orc warlord who’s dialog implies he’s had enough and just wants to go home to his husband. This kind of street-level representation would be no problem, imho.

But… sexuality doesn’t (seem to) drive WoW, and I don’t want it to start showing up as the reasons things happen on the grander scale.

They even had a kid together at one point in the lore but I’m pretty sure it’s been retconned now.

How is same-gender love politics? O.O If showing heterosexual couples in game is not politics, then it most assuredly isn’t either to show homosexual couples.
