Do you really think that’s the main reason?
If so; I understand other players even less than I already did.

Elves
Trolls
Orcs
Humans
Gnomes
Goblins
Vulpies
Cows
Goats
Pretty much everything else should be a subrace (including undead!)
Either something you lock in at creation, or a customisation option such as the wild-hammer or Man’ari customisations

Only pretty race the Alliance had in vanilla. Which explains why Void Elves are now the third most popular race on Alliance side, people just love their Elves basic

dataforazeroth works purely on the data people have pulled. So it’s not like it can provide a full picture.
Having said that I’m not saying the percentage would go up much but a percentage means it’s not extinct, there are in fact enough to register, however small.

The problem is people wanted a cool mini robot like mimiron, not gnomes with random objects stuck to them. With the heritage armour set you get the cool mini robot people would of loved, hence why I will never take off my heritage armour set on my mechagnome.
Mechagnomes need new cosmetics in creation screen to make them appear full robot, then people will play them more.

Speaking for myself; I want LESS robot, not more. I want to be able to use pants and gloves and other transmog pieces.
They should have been customization for gnomes, the way they have been implemented.
