Maybe for twinks or such? Is it just people being silly that I see certain older gems on the AH for very high prices or is there actual demand for some of them?
(I can understand enchants since they scale with level and work nicely on heirlooms for leveling, but gems are a different case.)
I got plenty of older cut gems on a char and am wondering whether I should vendor them all for their significant sale value instead of wasting AH deposit with listing them.

Come SL jewelcrafting will be able to craft gems that can be used in crafts with room for optional crafts. Such a special haste gem that will ensure one of the stats on the jewelry will be haste. Meaning it is a lot easier to gain a desired combo, and not having to endlessly recraft it over, over and over again for the perfect stat combo like here in BFA.
Furthermore they can craft gems that -guarantees- a socket in crafted equipment. But I worry that it still be up to rngesus that there actually is enough sockets in dropped gear to matter for the proffesion.
