Everything seems to be being dumbed down. Classes, mechanics etc. Why would you want to gut the “hardest” content in game? Ain’t it supposed to be hard and you need to hone your skills to do it?
I’m not taking part on the olympics cause i’m not good enough and it’s ok.
Because they’ve decided the way things are now is not how they want them to be moving forward. Doesn’t mean there won’t be any challenging content anymore.
you will be here when midnight launches and you will say how difficult it is now because there are no addons to tell you what to do and we understand you will do so from your alt because nobody likes to be caught red handed ,hand in cookie jar.
Blizz are banning combat add-ons too, so mechanics will be more difficult to deal with, without an add-on telling you what to do.
Class simplification, encounter simplification, and the add-on ban, they’re intrinsically linked, they’re part of the same plan: Making WoW playable without hours of setup-time, you shouldn’t just look at one or two of those factors in a vacuum… (But most of the panic-threads do just that, anyway)
That’s… not really true though. Blizzard is replacing the combat addons with their own in-house variants.
We will still have things like Plater and DBM, just without having to download an addon.
It’ll probably be a worse version in the beginning though.
The biggest thing that gets tossed is WeakAuras, which will stop solving mechanics in raids (and only in raids… never have I needed a WA for a boss in M+).
Blizzard is planning on designing those bosses accordingly though.
Just in case you didn’t know - for many years, Blizzard designed the bosses with WeakAuras in mind. They made them intentionally harder than they wanted to, just to address the existence of WAs.
If you think Midnight will be like WoW is today, just without a single addon, then you’re gravely mistaken.
Maybe it was just bad communication on Blizzards end but they’re not just stripping WoW of the addons, they’re replacing them with their own in-house versions.
In Midnight, if 50% of players can clean Mythic raid in 1 month, or 80% of players can get KSM title, then it is too easy. But that won’t be the case.
Blizzard can make every spec into 1 button rotation and every boss Patchwerk, it is still NOT easy if it can only be killed by top 1% dps within enrage timer.
Difficulty is a matter of numbers, that can always be buffed and nerfed.
Atm. , I am pretty sure that not even 5% of the dedicated RAIDERS actually clear Mythic raid fully and the raiders themselves are probably round 10 % of the whole Player base .
It is not only hard . it is plain inaccessible to the point that no one bothers with it . Why invest resources into something that realistically only 1% of your players will even see .
If the participation was upped to like 20-30% it would make much more senesce .
Look at SoD . Pretty everyone did the raids , because they were easy . While on retail hardly anyone tries them and spams Mythic + .
It literally drip feeds you dopamine 3 ilevels at a time. There is no skill expression or anything, just a steady trickle of upgrades based on time spent.
And that was one of the reasons why tbc and erath were so famous. Apart from warcraft 3.
The game used to be casual friendly and still had some hard content but not at the state of the modern wow.
Look at the raids in wrath and raids now.
Back then bosses were doing less things and more people were doing end game pve.
Now bosses especially heroic and mythic are doing 20+ thing and you need engineering degree to do them.
Back then the game was more pleasent and felt like a real game.
i have my doubts blizzard are gonna make the game much easier or dumbed down. its gonna be the same difficulty and complexity but without addons to help you out.
No way I have that much faith in blizzard. id believe they would genuinly compensate for the lack of addons with less complexity and difficulty.
While i like content relaxing and on the easy side (I haven’t raided beyond LfR since, well, the introduction of LfR, in the last patch of “Cataclysm”), Lemix is going too far with it, at least, for more than a 3-month novelty-mode. (I think it will grow tiresome for players before that time is up TBH)
Group content is no fun at all, all i’m doing is constantly running after the others, mobs pop like balloons at this point…
If skill and knowledge aren’t a requirement and people can do whatever they want, then can I go pilot an airplane right now? I mean, I have no idea how to do it but c’mon man don’t be toxic, who cares if there is a catastrophe? My right to do whatever I want is above everything else in this world!
People think pruning will " make wow too easy" are insanely low IQ individuals.
Skill Expression in world of Warcraft has always been bout making the right choice at the right time. Ever since BFA, the developers have tried to shy away from making game breaking choices, instead opted to give everybody multiple defensive cool-downs, multiple mobility spells, and multiple ways of bursting. This is because they didn’t want the skill expression to make a group of players that made bad decision, basically be useless. Which is what older version of wow was.
With the re-introduction of said design of minimizing everybody capacities, skill level actually increases because now it’s about making fewer choices but those choices are now more impactful as you don’t have other abilities to back you up if you make a mistake.
Take for example Hunter.
If a Hunter misses trap, no worries they have Scatter, Intimidation, binding shot or chimaeral sting.
If you’re a Ret Paladin and you LOH at the wrong time, no problem you have divine shield.
If you’re a warrior and you charge twice before a mage blinks, no worries, you have heroic leap.
The game isn’t more skilled now, it’s more convoluted and just chaotic. If you play MOP PVP, you can be in pretty bad gear and deal 50% less damage, but if you rotate spells enough and land CC, you can win.
If you deal 50% less damage in modern wow, you aren’t denting anybody, never mind killing an entire team.
