Are They Out of Touch with The Community?

Not a rant, just genuinely concerned.

So many people were saying that Shadowlands seems unfinished and should probably be pushed back, or they pull the ripcord as soon as possible to save development time.

Now they announced the expansion a bit later, well making the BFA longest expansion ever.

My question is:

Why is there no date or any blizzard dev/blue addressing the pre-patch date, it’s “supposed” to be at least 4 weeks.

I understand that they might want to push pre-patch back and make it 3 weeks, but that’s not the point.

The point is that there is 0 information about the actual date, it feels that it’s so unfinished and everything is buggy that not even they know when is it gonna be ready.

This is just my thoughts. I believe if the forums are full of posts asking for a date, and you twitter/instagram account is full of those comments/tweets.
Maybe actually tell community what is happening…

Aye, they’ve been out of touch for a while.

The thing I don’t understand is that they know the frustration that is happening right now about the date, and there is no community manager or anyone telling us anything.

It feels like they are just ignoring the community.

Blizz are simply terrible at communicating with us. They promise better communication every expansion but don’t follow through.

Which made me think…What happened with the Q&A that they usually did every 3 to 6 months?
With Ion and the guy who played a shaman.

They replaced them with interviews with streamers/youtubers over the SL development but there hasn’t been one for a while.

Where does it state that they’re pushing the Xpac back or are you talking about the recent wowhead article ?

The released a date for blizzcon online before they released a date for pre-patch btw, let that sink in and then ask yourself where their priorities really lie.
Asking if Blizzard are out of touch with the player base is like asking me if I enjoy tea…spoilers, the answer is a massive yes lol

From what i can understant Blizz employers is under pressure and some even leaving. Some for Dreamhaven but tbh i dont know how the infrastructure is going atm and blizz is not talking to the community.

Sad to say it but think Blizz has shot themselves in the A** by implenting so many systems that its out of touch with class identity. Wasting loads of times on balancing and dealing with bugs rather than making simple gameplay for people to enjoy.

Many of these systems is not for “fun” it is to keep a player in the trade mill so Activision can force players to do their “fun”
Quantity over quality

But what do i know

I said the community was talking about it that it seems unfinished. Never shared a misinformation.

Sorry I am just curious, havent checked wowhead since that article and thought maybe they released a blue post or something. I didn’t mean that to come across as a “challenging” question to your statement.

They’re trying to please so many people and probably have to go through a ton of corporate BS. It’s an impossible task.

This is not just Blizzard.

It is the new fashion at most of the (established franchise) AAA dev teams:
“We are the bestest artistes ever! If the players disagree with our vision they are wrong so we can ignore them since they will keep giving us money anyway!”

Add to all that also the corporate BS that push for overhyped rushed incomplete products and we have the perfect mix for disaster.

The infamous Battlefield V is basically abandoned after about 2 years with multitudes of ongoing bugs and optimization issues.

Yes.

It is paying the devs least amount of income for least amount of content to get most amount of profits for the shareholders and big bonuses for our friend Bobby.

If they cared about the community, we wouldnt talk about it in the first place.

what community? the raiders? dungeon spammers? pvpers? rpers? levelers?

they all want different things, but if youre a part of the last few youre looked down upon and get told your opinion doesnt matter by those that are on a constant whine loop

maybe people should look at themselves and simply admit this is not the game for them anymore and quit

why do you HAVE to know the date of the prepatch? you know the expansion date thats all that matters

data mining is already another huge problem that plagues this game, but thats another topic entirely

Unfortunately yes. They still react to feedback more than in BFA but still it’s not enough.

I don’t think your regular joe developer can do much with the current knuckleheads in charge of the direction of WoW.
What I can say, though, is that Ion and his henchmen don’t give a sh*t about the community. The OG team did, but this one? Nope.
And even if there are devs who do care, they have their hands tied by the greedy corporate twits running the show.

Why wouldn’t people want to know it? First of all, pre patch removes lot of things from game - people might want to know how long they have to gain these items. Second, people might want to know because they plan their life (work schedules, free time activities etc.) and want to take prepatch into planning too (like don’t invite mother in law for a long dinner just THAT evening when it starts :stuck_out_tongue: ). Finally, someone might be planning when their renew their sub and infomartion when new stuff comes can play big part of it.

So many people saying that Shadowlands should be released immediately. What now?

None said that it should be 4 weeks. Prepatch event is 2 weeks long.

What is “everything”? Also they have 1 month till release, and another 2 weeks till raid launch.

They announced the release date idk why you want more. Prepatch will come before that, at least 2 weeks before.

those are all fine reasons, then ask it that way instead of “is blizz out of touch with community because x and y”

not like im not waiting either but its such a weird way to go about it
