Perhaps a dumb question, but I'm kind of burned out of my main. I'm here to ask up about them. Obviously I know Affliction is a very good spec. I see about 80% of warlocks I come across play Affliction and about 20% Destruction. But I've not seen a single Demonology Warlock in this expansion.
And that's where I'm wondering: Are all specs viable? I really enjoy Demonology.
I need some guidelines and mindset on Warlocks, tips and help. I'm already reading up on Icy-veins, so I've got that covered, I just want to hear from those who know the class at heart and can help me shape a path.
Thank you very much beforehand!
Well, short story that happened to me few days ago...
...went into a m+8 pug for weekly chest, and a rogue was there. He said "never seen a demo lock this expansion" ... needles to say destroyed him on both ST and AoE... wasn't even close.
Demo is actually pretty good and strong PvE spec... it just has bad karma due to start of expansion... and if they fix some bugs that it has, like summons getting 1 shot by some boss abilities and Felguard doing so much damage with his empowered ability that no tank can generate that much threat even with his presence off... demo will be amazing... it is by far much more fun then the other two currently.
But yes, affliction rock the boat on ST and padding... ie. nobody can come close to you on ghuun because you can pad so much in 1st phase with absolute corruption its not even funny.
Destro is also ok.

..Huh, who would have thought! That's quite encouraging, actually. I'll take it into consideration, because I really like Demo. ^^

Well lucky me, PvE is what I care about ^^

I've been having a lot of fun with it in PVP, only casually. I've been wrecking people in random BG's with demo.
I know random BG's aren't exactly a good benchmark, though :D
For pve warlock is IMO one of the best classes because of pet synergy.
Hahah this is so true tho - people seem to see us as easy kills, so they just rush any they see.
Unfortunate for them when they run into a prepared and knowledable player :D Im having fun with destro - Conflag root and succu CC + fear, adds strong control.
Just still not enough to take out dr00ds, dh or rogue if they know what they're doing. So I keep it to.the randoms too :D

That Succubus slow is a gamechanger against melee. I was a bit salty about the spell being changed because I used to like throwing people off the cliffs of Arathi and Eye of the Storm, but the slow has saved my !@# loads of times against paladins and warriors that have used all the mobility up. It frees up a lot of space to actually get important spells off.
@ Atriohm also the Seduction ability is strong, 30 sec CD and I see a lot of noobs trinketing out of it :D
Trinket right into my fear :D

How do you even deal with so many pets in a mythic dungeon as Demo? I really like the spec but if I'm already struggling or feeling cramped and paranoid in mythics on my mage with water elemental, how will I deal with my felguard and imps following me, without pulling anything? It's the only issue I see if I was to play Demo on a serious level :S
Imps are usually close enough to you so if something would to be pulled, it would be pulled because of your own aggro range
(Also fairly sure that imps themselves do not aggro by presence, but I might be wrong).
There are however two things you should watch out for.
1) On your felguard, even if you have threatening presence off autocast, pay attention to the icon.
Screaming face: threatening presence is on, your tank will hate you.
White light with blue background (arcane torrent): threatening presence is off.
2) if you use the empowered spin (first row talent and like... The only viable option there) on pull, your felguard will die.
The pet is bloody squishy and if you won't let tank generate enough aggro, your pet will rip it with that ability.
Beside that only other thing you should know is that demo is great... Until you have to move, then it is not as good.
Your speciality as demo is burst/sustained AOE, single target is okay and probably better than destro's (out of infernal ).
Destro is burst AOE with cataclysm and burst single target with grimoure of supremacy (or what was the name again), but outside of infernal single target is terrible.
And affliction is as usual, God on single target (with great burst) and good spread damage.
Also if you try affliction, never take drain soul.
That is a bait talent as it actually lowers your DPS in every situation.

It's not the only viable option. Dreadlash is pretty amazing for more sustained AOE. I use it often on fortified weeks.

Yeah on high fortified it is good.
Though lolstorm is still taken for everything else.
And it likes to rip aggro.
(But the new felguard is worth the price)
Thank you for your tips, Teastra!
Is this 'lolstorm' talent really worth taking, if it dies straight away? Won't that mean that I would still miss out on the damage it could really be doing? Since the Dreadlash seems more reliable, because they don't take aggro and can do their full damage (I assume).

It is by far the strongest talent on that row... lash is good on long AoE fights... if you can get more then 3 casts of stalkers out... which is very very rare... and requires conditions to be met... storm is just simple, easy and better for ST...15/11/2018 08:35Posted by SeliannaIs this 'lolstorm' talent really worth taking, if it dies straight away?
You have to be mindful of it... you can't use it at start anyways, since guard is doing his normal storm initially... let tanks get a grip of everything, and then pop the storm... I suggest after 3rd HoG, pop storm... that is safe...
I'm also hoping they will reduce threat on that talent completely, because it is ruining the flow like this... but what can you do.
One of the biggest strengths of Dreadlash in M+ is that it can be used on every pack for more consistent damage.
Demonic Strength gets better use if your tank is pulling multiple packs at a time and the group's bursting them down. That doesn't really happen too often, though, outside of a guild run.

Warlock once was a fun, versatile, engaging class. Now we are pruned like no one else. It's the same dumb, boring, one-dimensional playstyle other dps classes experience.
In Arenas warlocks are not even playable. You die instantly, you can't rot, dispelling UA does nothing. It is just frustrating and blizzard refuses to hotfix it, they rather let us wait until 8.1 for some weird reason.
In Raid we are one of the best classes but still boring and non-engaging gameplay. No procs or other things you need to pay attention or react to.
M+ warlock is okay. Not the best and not the worst.
I rerolled to warlock at the end of legion and I regret it like nothing else. I would switch back but unfortunately warrior became just as boring over the years so there is nothing left for me.
