I do play other games besides wow, mostly survival games. From last year i spent alot of time in both enshrouded and soulmask as examples. I dont really play wow all that much.
I’m a gamer though the past 2 years I was moving around a lot so only had my laptop, don’t really like playing some games on it so mostly just wow. My main pc also broke during a move so didn’t want to get it fixed until I was in a more stable place again.
I’ve been a gamer since childhood.
I played a lot of board games with my family when I was a kid, which made me fall in love with gaming.
Back in the day, I also played a lot of SEGA games like RoboCop, Ninja Turtles, and Duck Hunt, as well as PlayStation games like Tekken 3 with the boys when I was in school.
World of Warcraft is just a small part of my life, and it wasn’t even my first Blizzard game. My first Blizzard game on PC was Diablo 2. I didn’t even know about Warcraft 3 until we moved to a new city. After changing schools, I met a lot of new people who introduced me to Warcraft, and later, WoW.
I became addicted to WoW for years, but ever since Shadowlands, I’ve been exploring everything I missed during my WoW years.
I have a Steam library full of games that I play when I’m mostly done with a WoW season and it’s cool!
I’ve bought most of them since 2020.
I buy at least 1–2 games per year if I’m interested in the story or visuals.
For example, Avowed looks amazing, so I’m going to buy it later after I finish Horizon Forbidden West , which I bought last year.
Avowed is a great game tho, I always enjoyed Obsidian RPG’s way more than Bethesdas.
I am a gamer but I rarely buy games when they’re released because there are so many games out there there can always be a good game you missed in the past. This year I bought Papers Please which is over 10 years old. In fact a lot of my early gaming days were spent playing old Sonic games on emulators.
Yeah I bought Shadow X Sonic Generations when it came out but that was more of an exception to the rule.
I sometimes boot up Heroes of the Storm when I feel like it, though pretty rarely at this point. Diablo 3 I play even less often, still need to complete the campaign with all classes, I’m left with classes that I don’t enjoy as much like barbarian, monk and necromancer.
First of all, I refuse to call myself a “gamer” because of very unfortunate connotations of the word (think capital G Gamers and gamergate and the rest of that garbage).
That said, I play a games a lot but it’s usually Old Reliables . The Sims, Rimworld, ARK, Crusader Kings, the Hunter, the works. I do buy several games a year and usually try 5-10 new games each year.
That’s how it is, buddy.
You must be very fun at parties
Who are you again? I don’t know you, do you know me?
Honestly it’s great that you’ve realised this. Already beating the majority
But also, this information shows you the perspective of the majority of people here. Why they say what they say, why they think what they think. Why the FOMO has such incredible control over some. Why a small change can sometimes be seen as a great revolution. Why some things are so incredibly daunting to get into for some.
Anyway, I obviously have some attachment to wow but all these games are so worth experiencing. It obviously has something to do with time, social groups, attachments, etc and in all likelyhood I’ll be playing much less soon(and likely much less of wow too) but I’d never want to forget all these things I’ve experienced.
Dunno. I feel like I’m enjoying new games so much more than the old ones. Currently just incredibly addicted to the new Yakuza game. Maybe you haven’t been lucky enough to find your thing.
Do ignore such gatekeeping, it’s for your peace of mind too.
I understand, but it’s just a random label. Hope it doesn’t ruin your hobby.
The piratey one? Looks really nice, but i need to catch up on that series, so many games not enough time!
Don’t rush! Play one, enjoy yourself, take a break. You’d otherwise hate it all if you rush. And yes, the pirate one. I’m enjoying it so much and it’s becoming a new cozy game for me with all the stuff I enjoy doing in it Might become one of those games you just install soon as you put a new windows version.
Last time I bought a game (not an expansion) was when I took a WoW break in WoD (when they got rid of flying). It was The Witcher. I played it for a while but I couldn’t really get into it. I kept looking at the minimap for clues but it had none of the markers I was used to. So I gave up. When flying came back to WoW I rejoined that game and been here ever since.
Back in the 90s I played lots of games. FPS Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem, Half Life. RTS Dune, Command & Conquer et al. Those puzzle games like Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacles. Civilisation and Sim City. And lots of others too. Had a PS 1 & 2, and xbox 360 too.
But these days it’s just wow, for now. I’ll hang up my spurs soon though. Then I likely won’t play any more video games.
Only wow for 2 years now.
Definitly i play other games,
Dota2, Valheim, Total War Warhammer 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur’s Gate 3, Gord, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Monster Hunter World, Dota Underlords, Diablo 4 ( im a masochist)
first i was a hardcore gamer.
when i was a toddler i had a sega genesis consol.
then i bought a ps 1 then ps 2 then ps 3 then ps4 and meanwhile that i had the ps4 i had a pc too ,
but with my age that were going up i started to play less the other games . sold my console.
and keept with pc online gaming. after that i stopped playing other online games.
so there was only 2 left dota 2 and wow.
and those are the only games that i play these days,
but im waiting for some unique games.
like the new doom that is coming out. or a new god of war. or a new DMC game.
basically the old games that i have goood memories with
Sounds like motion blur is the issue. You can switch it off in many games.
It was one of the biggest issues with dragon riding at launch but blizz implemented a quick hotfix on that.
I’ve never really considered myself a gamer, for me it’s more an extension of reading books, watching movies or playing D&D. To be immersed in a world and its stories.
I played adventure games like Myst, Seventh Guest, Zork and such together with my first boyfriend. We’d share one pc, sit together and discuss, try solve riddles etc. EverQuest launched, he started playing it, I tried it a bit on his account and then I got my own account. Ever since then I have loved mmorpg’s.
I’ve tried some mmorpg’s besides WoW over the years but it never stuck, I would miss specific things that WoW did/does so well. Other types of games don’t appeal to me despite them looking awesome at times, I prefer to read a book in that time. I enjoy watching a loved one playing something, I just don’t get the itch to play it myself.
So yes, a WoW only player here
I’m guilty of playing games whilst listening to an audio book.
I’m terrible at reading , It bores me. No idea if it’s attention span or whatever. I can read a magazine or article without issues. But a book for more than 10 mins I feel bored personally. I like doing things and it’s why I game so much.
I don’t watch much tv or movies because of the same issue. Sitting there doing nothing , expecting to sit still and watch it , huge uphill struggle for me. I usually cut movies into 2-4 nights. Sitting to watch a full movie is almost an achievement for me.
Going to the cinemas is nightmarish for me. Because I feel so bored. Even when the film is good and it’s entertaining.
