Same here, but up until my mid 30s
Same, and my lack of achievements in TWW back it up. I’m finding myself going back to D3 and Farming Simulator more these days

Neither. I’m a person that enjoys playing various videogames when time allows it.
If you only count your statistics for reference then you will get the wrong idea.
How will you know what games i play?based on some statistics that says 38% of people bought 1 game….
I can tell you i play a variety of games and still have several to finish besides playing wow.
I play a variety of games, currently KCD2 which is amazing if anyone is looking at it. Before that i was playing silent hill 2 remaster. The issue i have though is it is hard to find the time to play wow and other games. Like in season 2 othee games will be shelfed until i get ksm and curved.
But i also think the gaming industry has declined… look at how many AAA games have failed or are tailored to live service/microtransactions. Too many paid reviews or bias reviews… i mean IGN gave veilguard a 9/10… i played veilguard at christmas and hated it, and not for the wokeness i might add, i hated the combat, the story, the dialogue and barely anything abour that game was typical dragonage. If anyone enjoyed veilguard thats fine but i know EA refused to give review codes to anyone who said anything negative during previews to keep the reviews positive.
TLDR - I think of myself as a gamer, but the gaming industry is a bit corrupt and in a poor state
Just AAA gaming industry. I feel like indie to AA is in a great shape ( think of how many copies Palworld or Lethal Company have sold).
The problem with AAA is that the cost of making modern games keeps going up and now every game is required to be massive success otherwise it’s a loss for the company. That’s mainly the reason why we are seeing more AAA games from China/Eastern Europe - lower average salaries mean it’s easier to create games within a reasonable budget.
While I don’t think AAA industry is dying anytime soon, it’s obvious that the trend of higher box prices and more monetization will continue. It also wouldn’t surprise if big publishers started to focus on AA studios and smaller games.
Add Roblox and Minecraft players together and you get more than Steam, Xbox, Switch and Playstation combined. Money is an obvious reason for this, but irrespective of the reason it’s safe to say that AAA games are not a particularly big part of modern gaming for many gamers, even if they dominate the headlines.
I’m a gamer! I’m at Candy Crush level 17342!
In truth there is gaming and then there is GAMING. And if you have been an addict like me for all these years you really can never give one game that much time. I buy games all the time, but then for me it’s a way of life. I am loyal to WoW I buy all the expansions and have an active subscription. That’s about it.
One major new player on the circuit taking more time than WoW these days is AI related activities, and the places I frequent these days with AI loons is quite bonkers. But it is a growing community and the development of ideas is making our old understanding of gaming and art a soon to become outdated form. Its all changing and very quickly. I sense the gaming landscape will soon become unrecognisable. People are just doing so many different things with their creative time and games like WoW don’t really fit very well with it all. Sadly it does need to go mobile and have way more ways to customise the content. WoW is stuck in its ways. Always has been. I sense it’ll never change.
