Are you allowed to upload WoW cinematics & music to youtube?

Hey.

Back in WoD when i tried to record the early levels, Blizz shutdown the videos because of the WoD cinematics, I’m wondering if blizz are more lenient nowdays or if Music & cinematics are still a big “No” to have in your WoW videos.

It is genuinely a good idea to avoid using copyright music. Even if it’s just for a brief moment.

But existing popular youtubers definitely splice in short snippets of cinematic scenes into their videos. It’s all about fair use and make sure any asset you use is used as a talking piece / creative asset, and not just a copy paste to fill empty “air time”.

So just “Walkthrough” is not allowed?

You have to talk as you play? Can’t do No commentary?

Playing the entire cinematic with no commentary is probably a no-no.
I’d suggest you just chop the cinematics up to the flashy moments, or speed it up to like 1.25x speed.

Just seems so odd that blizz do this, But thanks for letting me know that blizz still flag their cinematics.

Copystrikes are more often than before so i think it’s more restricted than ever. Twitch streamers were bombarded with copystrikes because they are using someone’s music in their shows, i don’t know how it is in your country, but in my country there is something called “right to quote” when you can use fragments of someones work as a quote to make comments about that. Majority of streamers in my country are using this as support if someone copystrikes them.
