My original plan for my DK was to go with mining and blacksmithing. It’s thematic and useful.
But after thinking more about it, I’m considering to pick up tailoring and going into the specialization that allows to get more cloth and make dawnweave and duskweave bolts, and sell everything (only tailors get cloth drops in TWW). I’d pair it up with enchanting, go deep into the disenchantment specialization tree, and sell materials.
I don’t have any rare old recipes on my DK, so changing professions is fine. Mostly I don’t want to fly around in circles to look for yellow dots to get materials, compete with bots, or end up having to buy heaps of materials to specialize in crafting stuff.
Same as always: Mining and engineering.
I’m so used to having all those wormholes and whatnot to get around, I don’t think I could have a main without it.
I kinda want to lvl Engineering for the new mounts, but I will probably do that on an alt toon. ( thats if professions are better than the DF method of lvling) I hated the way they did DF professions.
My main for TWW (a pally) is a miner and blacksmith. My mage alt is a tailor and enchanter. I’m seriously thinking about dropping the pally’s mining for tailoring, as I have other miners, but only one tailor, and I don’t want the mage to be ‘cloth starved’ if I don’t play him as much.
I stopped doing professions in DF because it was too confusing. I didn’t even learn how to get crafted gear. Doing an m+ for the vault was easier than reading all that stuff.
I may try again this expansion though. I might look into enchanting as I did still buy enchants in DF.
Gather at the start, then on level 80 pick a profession. You will have picked up enough mats to get a good start + a healthy dollop of XP. In DF changed all of my M+ or Raiding chars to Alchemy for the duration buffs.
Just gathering because I hate the profession system. The knowledge takes so long to get that having a profession army is a nigh impossible feat without burning myself out. Got friends who can craft for me.
Back when I began playing (and had settled on this character as my main) I asked my partner what professions would be good to have and the bastard (affectionate) said “tailoring and enchanting”…
In their defense, I’m not entirely sure they were aware I was playing a plate user
Enchanting because you can make a few gold at the start of an expansion without having you promote your goods in Trade Chat and tailoring because fits my characters story and class.
The Engineering wormholes are far, far too useful and time saving, plus the added fun stuff is always a boon (and at times often BiS).
Alchemy for the extended flask duration. The money it will save over the course of an expansion is not insignificant.
Pretty much everyone will be going tailoring as the “passive” gatherer on alts due to how cloth drops work now so the value will still remain low for it.
I have specific chars already set up for the crafting profs (as race matters a hell of a lot more now for these with the DF system) + Alchemy for transmutes.
