Are you done with Shadowlands Ret talents?

Another week has passed, and another beta build has dropped, and once again there is nothing regarding the numerous talent issues many members of the Ret Paladin player base have highlighted and expressed concern over.

There are still dead talents, namely ‘Fires of Justice’. Unimaginative and utterly underwhelming vs the other two choices on the row. There are countless suggestions from players for alternatives.

Trap talents are still at large, ‘Justicar’s Vengeance’, if you are going to leave it in its state, nobody is going to choose it, ever, so why have it there? Again, people have made ample suggestions, why is it just being left there for dead?

Inquisition, Seraphim, and Execution Sentence. These abilities each cost 3 holy power, Inq and Sera do basically the same thing, give haste and DPS. Each 3 HoPo, 2 do the same thing. I Don’t need to explain why I’m questioning why?

I’d also like to note concern regarding our PvP talents. We’ve heard nothing about them, really nice abilities like Hammer of Reckoning will be gone because we’re losing our Greater Blessings. Will these things be replaced? Or is it going to be a case of removing them and getting nothing back?

A little interactive feedback with your community goes a very long way.

Finally, we have ‘Healing Hands’, a talent that effects an ability that you cannot even use in all aspects of the game, (LoH in Arena). It is unimaginative, uninteresting, and looks like it has just been slapped into the slot and forgotten about.

When the class announcements for SL first dropped I went straight to Ret notes and I felt excited. Finally we were getting some abilities you took away from us to fit this thing called ‘class fantasy’ returned. Emp DS (EmpP) was back without needing a piece of gear to use it, HoW baseline, it was good to see WoA baseline. The talents looked a mess and just thrown together, but things were looking good.

That was on day one, fast forward, we are through Alpha, and ploughing through Beta, many Ret paladins have given their concerns and legitimate feedback with some great suggestions regarding the issues Ret still has, and ways to fix the talent trees, yet we are still here, our talents looking the same now as they did on the first day of Alpha.

Are the paladin designers really happy with this? Are you guys done? Do you step away from your P.C’s at night and look at the current state of Retribution and get goosebumps because you know without a shadow of a doubt that this iteration of the spec is going to be spoken about as the golden age of WoW’s retribution?

If the answer is no then WHY are you in the design team?

A Ret Pala that wants to play WoW.

I realised my reply was unhelpful so I removed it.

Ret clearly isn’t finished and there is no need to be so rude. It undermines your feed back and makes it less likely to be taken seriously

we hope.

my fears are mainly that blizzards are centralising alot of their feedback from The content creators.

for example:

Lets look at what Preach (as a example) has made statements on.

Preach said Retribution paladins are a Potiental Main for him as He said the class feels amazing… Belluar another added his opinon saying Ret is amazing in SL. HOWEVER the convenant ability they both highlighted as being negative got Immediately removed and in the works for reworking.

the Paladins here are clearly unhappy with Paladins in multiple areas… Yet seen 0 Changes.

Hunters another spoken highly of by preachs channel While the playerbase are annoyed at a Lack of changes, and its again a class thats seen no changes at all realistically.

While Fire mage and Shadow Priest both highlighted Massively by preach as trash… both got Reworked to a Extent. the problems he highlighted with enhancement got fixed in a Minor rework. and Shadow Just took a Major overhaul.

I mean we say Retribution isnt finished, but the videos on Ret are SUPER positive. thats not saying peoples complaints are wrong… im just curious to if blizzard Are centralising their opinons on these things via content creator feedback therefore some Feedback from average players are being overlooked.

And given that alot of the bigger voices are Shouting Rets great Its rets Time… will actually cause the class to actually be Finished.

All discord classes are easily accessible. I do think they are a more reliable source of feedback than content creators. I’m not gonna blame someone being hyped by something, not gonna hate someone who thinks in a different way than me.

Besides, I’m still waiting about consecration changes and talent rework.

As i said i dont agree with it if that is what they’re doing… it just seems abit Coincendental The only classes that saw Reworks to any scale were the ones flagged by them :stuck_out_tongue:

im not saying there arent problems or the content creators are reliable, which is why i said im concerned if its whats happening.

Fair, I’ll edit out the vulgarity, it was written off the cuff after yet another pass where zero actions have even been hinted at being taken.

@Brach, hopefully it has more to do with the amount of feedback coming out of the class discords as Shihi says, it’s beginning to get worrying at this point, but if it’s the case then there is still hope.

I just don’t believe that a designer can step back and look at the current state of the spec and be O.K with it, you cannot be a creator and just scrape the barrel like that, and say “that’ll do”, it should be about pride and passion in your work, not just doing the bare minimum.

It’s been 2 expansions now of, for want of a better word, trash, and though things are looking up there is still a lot of work to do.

I see where you are coming from but if the recent actions staff are taking against blizzard they crushed the heart and soul out of there workers years ago. Everything is also so corporate right now no change happens to the spec without going through so many peoples hands it’s silly. The guy who loves ret just gets his ideas shot down by the guy who has to balance ret with all other melee. And if the change gets past him then it gets detailed by the guy in charge of dps overall and so on.

I gauntee the designers know and want to make it better but they aren’t able to and it probably really fustrates them

Also I bet the guys doing the soulbind. Class abilities and specs are all different people
