Seriously now. 20 years of this crap. Enough is enough. A little less focus on promoting FOMO and generating 6 year quests and more focus on making the UI actually user friendly. As it is now the interface is totally hostile to the user.
Or ppl are overly dramatic?
The suggestion is good.
The manner in which it was suggested could do with some work.
Thats fair. Easy to dismiss whiny posts
Would also be nice to see a better way to navigate trough meta achievements. Now you click on one and all of a sudden you’re in an entirely different section.
I think what is dramatic is the fact that for 20 years they have been attempting to confuse you and waste your time. That is the dramtic bit. Yeah, a little anger is healthy.
Am i supposed to thank them for intentionally confusing people? And on top of that paying for this?
Most people know what a PITA the achieves panel is to navigate. Most people will not remember the last panel they were on when checkign meta achieves. It is a waste of time unless you pin certain achieves on the side so you can click on them and access them that way. Finding specific achieves in the list is a joke. They are not sorted at all.
I will take one that acts like a browser any day and you can keep your user unfriendly version.
The thing is…we are paying for this game. I have every right to make demands like this. The alternative is we quit. Ive done this plenty of times. Ive been gone since the first month of DF. Essentially the whole expansion ive been gone.
Why? Bored out of my mind and crappy stuff like the achieves panel that drives me nuts.
Ask yourself this. Why has this panel been a mess for the last 20 years? Why? Plenty of peoplle have asked for this.change I am not the first, by any means, to ask for this. So why have they kept it the way it is all these years? Why? They know it is confusing as fudge to navigate.
If you would rather they pay more attention to constructing 6 year long quests, then this game is not going to live much longer. Subs have been dropping for years. Make no doubt about that. A trilogy of expansions is not going to do much at all to the playerbase, most of which are not new players but people who are either returning, or playing alreeady.
i think a " back button" is not important.
there are more pressing matters. like Balancing and making more content
… ive never thought to myself while farming my almost 30,000 achievement points … " DAMN I HATE BLIZZARD NO BACK BUTTON / RAGE "
im an adult
You can search and track achieves
Whilst I don’t agree with their tone or points I do agree a back button would be handy. Especially multi level huge achievements like the Taivan one.
I keep having to re look up whatever it is, back would be a noce addition.
So, first of all, achievements have not been in wow since vanilla, they got introduced with wotlk pre-patch in october 2008 so that’s 16 years ago.
Secondly, well, if you would take a moment and think about it without emotions clouding your judgement, blizzard probably did not think about every detail of the achievements tab when designing it.
It was just this trending thing to put into games at that time and it wasn’t made for the amount of achievements we have today. It was probably not foreseen it would grow and exist for so long, like the whole game the achievements tab is highly bloated.
With that out of the way, yes, it sounds like a good idea with a back button, i’d love it.
How about existing content gets looked at before more crap gets added.
The im an adult comment at the end, puts that statement into doubts. But my guess is you are attempting to troll and are hoping i will bite?
Adults ususally do not need to announce, that they are indeed adults.
Point taken. You are right. It was during Wotlk that they were added. I started during wotlk. So its 16 years as opposed to 20. They have been in the game far longer than they have not.
In the beginning of this game blizzard actuall hired psychologists in an attempt to make the game more addictive. They started introducing events, sounds, user interface changes and colors as a means of prolonging your game play. And this was done, solely, to get people playing the game and to gt them playing for longer.
The skinner box conditioning model is well attached to wow. It is deeply ingrained into the game. From the weekly and daily quests to the little sounds that you might not even hear.
The abusive behavior of the game itself, manifests itself in the form of RNG and drop rates so low, that it takes some people thousands of runs to get one piece of digital pixels. %0.07 is an abuse of the player. I do not give a rats rear end if you think otherwise. This is being abusive.
Why point that out, 16 years or 20 years hardly matters does it? The underlying point remains the same.
I just checked ingame. What would a Backbutton do? Where would it go back to, since the Window is Folder and Subfolder.
Nah they’re not gonna do that.
WoW’s original UI was designed by Einstein. WoW’s modern UI feels like it was designed by monkeys with a typewriter. Everything is random, nothing makes sense. Every panel looks different, has different sizes, miss core functionality.
I mean… yeah. xD
Gotta admit I’ve lost my patience too though.
UI doesn’t scale correctly with different screen sizes (on 4:3 by default the action bars overlap with the side buttons, for example)
But for me it’s so much worse than what the OP is describing. I have seriously considered rewriting the entire set of standard UI panels, but honestly it’s such a big task I ended up not bothering.
I just made an addon for this: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/achievements-back-button/
