I’m coming back for P4 but depending on what they do I could just yeet myself out after 30 minutes or 10 hours.
It really depends.
The whole “it’s about the journey not the destination” is ruined. Plain and simple. There is no fixing that. So that means the endgame has to be cashmoney.
But what is the end game exactly? 20 man raiding? 40 man? No flex raiding for 10 mans at all?
Stupid RNG drops and ilvl ladder climbing that just drags out the experience into a tedious slog?
No x10 to rep gains so we have to spend dozens of hours grinding for something?
And what of our characters at the end of SoD? What happens to them? Until I know what happens to my character I just can’t see myself putting in more time than 1 hour every time I play the game because I just don’t think it is worth the time investment to potentially have the character or everything that the character has worked toward removed by the end.
I’ve already invested an unhealthy amount of time into SoD and upon self reflection I realize that this is not casual (which they claimed it would be) at all. I got 20 days of game time on my warlock (that’s 480 hours of played time) and I still haven’t 100% everything that is available because of how sluggish a lot of things can be.
So yeah I mean I’m done taking SoD seriously. I will approach it as Aggrend has promised it to be, a casual game mode. Either phase 4 is approachable in a casual way or it isn’t. And if it isn’t then ok, cool. I’m not the target audience, that’s fine. I’ll leave.
I just don’t think you should claim that something is casual when it isn’t. “Oh but it is casual”; Then we have very different views of what time investment is considered “casual”.
So even if Phase 4 isn’t a dumpsterfire in regards to its balancing, design, rune “rework”, carrots on sticks etc if the game is just designed to suck the life out of me then I’m out. I got other things to play that don’t take dozens of hours to attain minute improvements.
However, I have a sneaking suspicion that i was never the intended target audience. I guess we’ll see who they’ll cater to in phase 4 when it drops.
