Arena dead?

I just looked at the PvP stats and the arenas are completely empty for solo shuffling…
At more than 1k8 there are 3 times more players in solo shuffling than players in 2s and 3s…

The shuffling has completely killed the arena… and it is very difficult to find a teammate to climb the rating today…

It’s boring when you face the same thing every time. If you’re not playing flavour of the month then you’re already facing an up hill battle.

It always was hard to find teammate for arenas  thats why SS appeared.

Yeah, that’s not the reason buddy lol

I mean it makes sense. Before people would have to sit in lfg for hours, in order to find people to play with, but that’s too boring, now they check flist and if there is no1 there to play with, they will just shuffle it up 9/10 times. If you don’t already have people on your flist to play with, you are screwed.

A simple fix would be for Blizzard to allow people to advertise in lfg, while queueing shuffle/bgs/dungeons/etc.

It’s simply not fun to do normal arena unless you aim high with people you know you can climb with.

Solo shuffle is also slow. 20 minutes in queue as a dps for a game in which your rating doesnt change if you have 3/6 wins. And most situations are 3/6 because theres always some weaker player that gets tunneled.

Yes :frowning: I hope it will get better

That was already the case way before we had solo shuffle, it is one of the reasons solo shuffle got released. Because arena with LFG was a nightmare. 60 min looking/searching for partner… get into game win one game, lose one game. partner rage quits without saying anything. Back to waiting/searching in LFG again.

And on op of that, you couldn’t do anything else while sitting in LFG, not skirmish, no BG, nothing. And I am sure that this is still the case right now.

I love playing arena with a real team, I did it for years. Nobody I know plays anymore. And before people come here and say something stupid like: “make new friends”. GTFO here dude. in Shadowlands I added like 40-50 people on my Battle Net and with not a single one did I play ever again because… either they do not log in ever again for weeks. Or they log in and still have the same gear and are very behind.

Or they stopped playing their class and are on another toon, of course with low gear again and the only reason they would play with you again is to gear and cap their twink and then never play that toon again, too.

Or they straight out just never play at the same time you could play at, therefore no chance to spam arena games. Or they just don’t answer ever again on whispers. And I am telling you, most of them are scared to play properly arena, anxiety plays a big role in competetive games, many people have that issue. Most people rather play a Twink and gear that one up then move on to another character again instead of doing try hard rating gain in arena.

Players that have teams or partners are 99% those who met 10-15 years ago and are still playing and they never needed to “make new friends”. It was the same for me, for years. It is easy to tell others “just make friends” in a game that has less and less players year to year and getting more toxic on top of that.

AND on top of that, you for sure do not wanna have to train somebody, even if that person is nice and cool and can and wants to play. If you have some exp on higher ratings it is not really fun in the long run to play with people that have absolutly no exp in a 18y old game. It just takes way to long to get on a decent level.

PvP is in a weird spot right now, but definitely much better than the last 3 expansions before Dragonflight. (So good job Blizzard, an improvement is good!)

Battleground has too little options (If you want bonuses, you must do random BG, but there are so many different ones, and you might only like half of the choices), and is unbalanced due to not following arena (No Dampening means self-healing classes such as Feral Druid, Fury Warrior or Havoc Demon Hunter become unkillable tanks in BG). But at the same time, Arena has become incredibly meta driven. It is definitely not a casual place to queue up for 2v2 or 3v3 these days, most people play almost only FOTM META winning comps.

So what is left? Solo shuffle so far, in my opinion, seems to fit a more casual option. Is it still very meta driven? Yes, but less so than 2v2 and 3v3.

When you have a competitive environment, where only a handful of class-specc’s are relevant, gearing has to be high, and you need a teammate or two to coordinate, you have already sorted away atleast 90% of everyone who perhaps might say “could be fun to do a couple of hours of Arena”. Solo shuffle is a solution to this problem, for sure. Gearing for PvP is in this expansion superb, so the dominating aspect of Arena is now class/specc choice, but Blizzard are aggressively tuning speccs to try and balance the experience, and so again GJ Blizzard.

In my opinion, probably the best PvP Expansion in many years.

Finding someone to play with has never been a problem, problem has always been finding a good player to play with, otherwise it has always been quite easy to find people between 1000-2200 but they are generally low quality players. I saw people with 7000 matches in 2s during one season, the guy was on lfg whenever I check.

Shuffling is good for filling the weekly vault, for example I have 4 characters on max lvl, if I waste time with finding partners on lfg it will take much longer to fill the vault. I believe legacy 2v2 and 3v3 will be more popular when people fully gear up and meta stabilize. I would rather reach elite with someone with exp in 1 day rather than expecting jackpot through solo shuffle xd.

I agree that it is the best PvP Expansion since S8, personally.

Yes of course, I didnt’t mention it because I thought that it would be normal that somebody would want to play with someone on the same rating/skill level.

I can for sure play 2v2 ladder all day with 1200 noobs, and they would be happy about it for sure. But what does that do for me? Nothing. I can not push any rating with such people and playing on lower rating than I usually do is not fun either. (no point for doing it of you do not “boost” or you do not abuse bashing noobs on low rating for “Content” on Twitch…

I had people that told me, just do “boosting for gold” dude, it’s fun etc. I mean, their solution to these issues was, doing the same what they did. Just boost the noobs and get gold… This is how the game is nowadays. Just sad.

  1. Turn on computer
  2. Start WoW
  3. Click Q and play

Save all those BS about LFG and socialing with randos
Many people and I don’t bother do that
