Arena ladder climbing suggestion

idea inspired from another online pvp game:

  • the ladder is made of tiers: green, blue, purple, mythic, legendary…whatever
  • you never loose rating in a low ladder (say green)
  • you gain the double of what you lose in a low tier (say blue, purple)
  • you loose the same of what you gain in higher tiers
  • you can’t drop below you highest achieved tier in the current season: if you get to mythic you’ll be always playing in mythic (this is useful to counter boosting i think…)
  • there is no mmr, you just play against people at your tier
  • if two or more people are playing at different tiers, the higher is applied in matchmaking, but the gains are “personal” tier related
  • you always gain and lose the same amount: e.g 10 rating points

cheers

It’s just reducing the risks and making the skill differentiation even worse than it already is in matchups. It makes a ladder meaningless, placement meaningless, rating meaningless and only places focus on the tier, mirroring the PvE difficulties. A mythic guild is a mythic guild, both ends up with the same rewards but one will get there faster than the other. That’s the kind of system you’re proposing, with no downside like going back down to heroic difficulty.

PvE can f off. Don’t need it in the ladder as well.

So what you are saying is the want the PvP ladder to not punish lower tier players in any way shape or form but to pushing higher tier players? why? its a ladder for a reason, you’re suppose to climb it gradually as your skill and knowledge as a player increases, not get a free pass to a certain rating with no repercussion on losing.

You’ve basically suggested this to help yourself since you are struggling around 1400 on your DH with a 46% win rate there. From a fairness stand point, do you really think you deserve to go up to 1500 - 1600 for free? since you are having so much trouble at 1400? do you think that would be a healthy system for a competitive PvP ladder to have?
