Me and my friend started doing 2v2s today. Now in the past, we’ve been able to get to around 1600 with ease. Rating went up at a very quick pace up to 1400, then would slow down a little. This time round, we can’t even get to 1400 rating, despite positive win streaks. We’ve been stuck at 1200 MMR and losing means we lose about 15 rating. In the past, we would not lose rating until 1400, so why is it such a struggle now to even get to 1400 rating?
The people we are up against are also trapped in this weird area where their MMR is so low that their actual pvp rating can be above 1400 and they lose 25 rating, meanwhile we gain about 11 and lose more than that if we lose.
I read somewhere that not doing pre-games in prepatch got you stuck in this limbo, I have a feeling that this has crossed over into Shadowlands. I have no proof to back that up, but everyone i’ve spoke to in the guild who pvps is baffled that we are struggling so much, and it’s not even our fault, the game is severely punishing us for losing.
do you have the addon REFlex ? it tracks your arena matches, and more importantly, the MMR of each match.
what kills your MMR is lose streaks the most, and losing to opponents with way lower MMR
if your MMR is not healthy (way below your CR), it is important to have a win streak, or else it will take a while for it to catch up because you can’t just sit at 50% winrate in this situation because losses remove you a lot of points, win don’t give you many and your CR will go down to stabilise around your MMR.
so as mentioned above by Aryash, the only way out really is a win streak to get your MMR above your CR. then you can play around >50% winrate for a while and it will climb.
