Arena Season 1 ending too soon

TBC Arena Season 1 length: 20 weeks
TBC Classic Arena Season 1 length:12 weeks

TBC : Teams start at 1500, no rating req on gear
TBC Classic: Teams start 0, rating requirement on gear

The Arena system now uses a much diffirent MMR system compared to what it was back in orignal TBC, it suffers from low participation. It feels like either you are around 1100-1500 rating now or 2k+. There is clearly something wrong.

Since the Arena Season 1 is now only 12 weeks on Classic TBC, people cant get full pvp gear even if they have 2000rating in 5v5. 2000 rating on 5v5 should give around 1054 arenae points. I calculated a typical warrior would need 1125 (glove)+1500(shoulder)+1875(head)+1875(chest)+1875(legs)+3750(weapon)+1000(throw wep) = 13000 Arena points total. With 2000 rating, 1054*12 resets is 12648 arena points, not enough to buy all pieces.

Comparison below how much arena points/week you need TBC Original VS Classic to get full gear within a season:

TBC Original Season 1 :13000/20 weeks = 650 arena points avg/week to get full pvp gear
TBC Classic Season 1:13000/12 weeks =1083 arena points avg/week to get full pvp gear

You almost need double the amount of arena points per week to get full gear within a season of 12 weeks. It also takes longer/more games since Team rating starts at 0

This is not even close to the “Original TBC Arena” experience. If they want shorter seasons and keep the experience about the same they need to drastically increase arena points gain/lower costs on gear.

Arena is not what it used to be in original TBC. I have played both Classic and Orignal. Arena players got screwed, sadly. I think they are in some kind of rush to release T5 to keep pve players at bay.

It gives 1162, since they increased it

You don’t want weapon as a warrior though

You can get every piece of gear except for weapon by being 1660 in 5v5 for 12 weeks

And shoulders

Yeah, true. You can get every piece except for weapon and shoulders by being 1532 in 5v5 for 12 weeks.

A short season 1 was pretty much requested by pvpers. They didn’t like Blizzard’s original launch plan, and cried so much that it got changed to not reflect original TBC. As a result we get a too long PvE phase and a too short PvP phase. When noone is happy, Blizzard is happy.

Yes they increased it by like maybe 100, 1 month ago or so (so maybe only in effect half season). Still, the arena points required is alot higher per week than original wow tbc.

Well, it was just an example with warrior. You would want weapon in other seasons, or as a healer/dualwielder (Unless you wanna do PVE). They also need 13k+ arena points. It still stands it requires alot more arena points now per week than original wow TBC, also more games since it team rating starts at 0, also rating requirements on the early seasons.

It is just not the same, and I don’t really think they should require an average of like 1100points/week to gain all pieces. They made some changes already, they can make it much better, I think.

you shouldn’t compare tbc & tbc-c
Both are not the same in too many aspects
Not the same blizzard & Not the same players

Yeah, pretty much only the top players got most of the gear… whilst pretty much everyone else got screwed over and maybe got 2-3 max.

I’ve had 2k+ rating in 5v5 almost since the first week and I would STILL not have the two hander which i would need if i wasn’t a warrior and use deep thunder. This season was trash and it’s 100% blizzard’s fault, it was inactive af cause of bad queues in BGs cause of faction imbalance and insane low honor gains so very few had honor gear and didn’t want to step into the arena, teams starting at 0 , some random MMR system that makes no sense, rating requirement on weapons to discourage casuals doing arenas, and now it’s going to end in 12 weeks instead of 20 as original tbc s1? XD

TBC is for raidloggers only, can’t take this pvp poopshow seriously, s2 won’t be better, unsub and play a real competitive game

and finally this clown fiesta season its almost finish, i never played one season like this in 13 year of wow.
i still undergeared and i dont have all the offset pvp but only 2 piece (trinket + neck) and i have played alot, the rest i compensate whit tailoring and gem, its ridicolus the amount of honor request / gain. its ridicolus 30/40 min for do one warsong. you can see people overgeared at 2k rating that have their “one button macro warrior / hunter bm / double arcane mage” that literally dont know anything about synergy comp just win for overdamage, this season was not skill based but only a waste of time to watch one npc for 40 min each bg.
but yeah, good job blizzard, tbc was not like this.

You are talking to deaf ears

imagine increase arenapoints gain from the start because the season 1 will be too short and you know it as a developer.

big brain time

imagine boosting low rating points from the start because teamrating starts at 0

200 IQ

imagine telling players at season start how long the season will be ± 2 weeks

Yeah I forgot to mention that in the mainpost. BGs and the bg queue times are horrible although we got a few weeks with same faction bgs, but too late. When the arena started basically those with full PvE gear/some pvp gear from the bugged honor gain on pre-launch tbc patch (where u could gain loads of honor) skyrocketed the arena ladders to get epic PvP gear, which kept them ahead for the rest of the season (12 weeks season made it more apparent since not many could catch up). While those who recently got 70 when Arena season started struggled to get gear with the bgqueues/get on the same pace. It’s just a shame Blizzard is not looking at the whole picture on the PvP problems in Classic TBC, they are mainly focusing on PvE.

Old vanilla player here who got back to wow for Classic - never played TBC back then nor stepped in an arena. This is my frist time.

The system is just not fun, and the length of the season makes it even more frustrating.

Firstly, when you first join arenas you encounter people who have probably played a decade plus, know all the strats/spells/positioning and kill you and your team within a few secs.

This makes you want to go to play bgs, get as much resil as possible and try to study strats to counter them. However, and as many have pointed out, the BG gear grind is very very tough. As an ally, I have been able to get most of the off-pieces and set by basically losing 70% of all bgs. I cannot even fathom what it would have meant for me, had I played horde.

Now my team and I are starting to get some wins and learning the basics, but the matching system is awful. The moment we get a couple wins under our belt, we get matched with people 700-800 rating points above us, which means we usually lose against those and those not help our morale. This is a constant feature of the system and does not help people learning and most importantly trying to have fun.

Now people here are saying if you get 1.6k in 5s you can get everything bar weapon and shoulders. Most people do not even enter the arena and even less play 5s. This is just way too unrealistic to demand from people. Let’s face it - most of the PvP playerbase does not have gladiator gear, b/c of getting stomped in arena with no resil gear and not wanting to go through that painful experience.

So in my case, now that we can start competing, have the gear to do so etc… the season is over? I mean, this is not helping new people join - It is a HUGE barrier of entry that most poeple do not find FUN.

I am tired of this rushing mentality and reactive approach from Blizzard. The same happenned during Classic when rushing the release of Naxx after most people were getting a hold of AQ (most people, not HC players) and basically killing the previous server I played on.

Get a damn plan, communicate it and stick to it - if PvE/PvP people now S1/P1 will last 20 weeks, they will adjust their gametime, and most importantly, their EXPECTATIONS to that timeline. This is just all over the place and as someone has already mentioned, making lots of people angry about it.

It’s short to match the PvE content.

Do you guys want T5/T6 raiders in arena while you are still in S1/Blue PvP gear ?

Cant even argue about the length of the season. It’s a fact that in original tbc it was even stated that seasons will last 3 months in their box book in the last pages. I know I can just make that up but it’s true and now they just matched their original wanting xd

It’s not the point of a season to have all participating players fully equipped in the seasonal arena gear. Sure it feels short but in the end it does not really matter. We can still get S1 gear in S2 (even cheaper) to complete sets for boni (finally we can get the shoulders without rating requirement).

You forgot to mention that you can’t even gear up as horde for PVP. With BG queues being 45+ minutes it would take more than a year to get what you need. Meanwhile alliance can spam BGs and get a fk load of honor.

lol you need 5 offset items, if you need 1 year for this you should probably quit the game.

for tbc fresh (haha) they should just start with S2 and s1 for honor + blue set for rep at the start.

disgusting move by blizzard. so if you didnt already grind hard first week and prepatch and cap every single week since release there is no chance to get even close to fullgear.

i really hope the gear will be 50% off and not 20% because this would be another joke.

if you reduce season by almost 50% then also reduce prices by 50%. but then again WHY after the season and not from the start?!

says who?
