Arenapoint contribution

hello guys,

i want to discuss with you the contribution of arena points. the community manager told us we will see a change but not in which way. he just told us we get more points.

yesteday i saw how much arena points the players on the us realms got. for people who dont know i will make a short breakdown:

before the change
2v2 1500 rating: 468
2v2 2188 rating: 1000

3v3 1500 rating: 542
3v3 1977 rating: 1000

5v5 1500 rating: 616
5v5 1855 rating: 1000

after the change:
5v5 1400+ rating: 1400 points
2v2 2200+ rating: 1400 points

is this a good change in your opion? i think not because people will only play a few games 5v5 because nothing else makes sense in case of farming arenapoints. why would you even play any other bracket?

what will happen i guess? no one will play 2s or 3s. the brackets will be dead. canceled my sub, lost motivation to play tbh.

edit: arena is dead

Berny been doing 5v5 entire tbc. Finally 5v5 gets the spotlight.

5v5 maniacs represent.

This is sort of dramatic tbh. More people will get arena gear, which (hopefully) will make them interested in pvp?

Instead of farming weeks for 1 item, they can see some decent progress on their pvp gear.

People will still play 2’s, since it gives a huge AP as well, and 3’s is the most fun. There will still be 5’s games, but mostly for cap i think. And then play for serious/fun in an “actual bracket”

TLDR: i ABSOLUTELY love this change. Straight up amazing! ill even cap alts now

what about all the people who bought gear s1, s2 and s3 in the offseason? idk, most people play on <1500. they cant get all offsets, they cant get s4 weapon, they cant get s4 shoulders but have 4/5 season 4 set in like 4-5 weeks.

i dont think you can motivate people to play more arena with this change except 10 games 5v5.

if 5v5 on 1600 gives more points than 2200+ 2v2 or 3v3.
Why would any casual play more except when they try to get a certain rating for offsets or something? You kill the ladder for two brackets.

What about them? I bought the weapons from arena points for s3 weapons. Big upgrade.

Not sure i understand how thats bad? Good players will still have an advantage over players by getting offpieces and weapons (weapons can be huge for some)

This might come as a shock to you, but there are quite a few people who enjoy doing arena, for the fun of it.

Not everyone is JUST doing it for the highest cap possible. Those who do cap, do they just quick doing pvp once they get their gear? Seems like a ginormous waste of time and energy.

I personally still have the first pvp set i got in the bank on my retail shaman. Amazing feeling getting full set, also got the original 2.2 weapon with original enchant still lying around. That was the beginning of my pvp journey atleast.

no front, but i dont think you see the problem.

i guess nobody has a problem if casual ratings like 1300-1800 get more points per week.

the problem is, that 5v5 at 1500 makes 2v2 and 3v3 irrelevant. why would you ever push 2s or 3s?

example:

  • how many people will work 40 hours a week when they get the same money for working like 5 hours a week?
  • how many people would make a career as an engineer, lawyer or doctor when you get the same money for doing an easy job?
  • do you know players who still do kara or bgs all the time just for fun (no gdkp, no loot, not even helping a friend) after they got BiS PvE gear?

Because 5s are mostly braindead zug zug comps only for points and will never achieve anything and anyone who wants to play arenas seriously, which is quite lot of people because pvp in wow is awesome, will still plays 2s and 3s …

Getting more points is great change, especially after that completely zogged S3 season where you couldnt even buy any gear and it was over … gj on that one blizz …

Arena points are one of the biggest issues in early WoW, since unlike in PvE where all you needed was bit of luck or gold and you can have full gear in single week (theoretically), in PvP even if you were a god with 6k rating and 100% winrate, you still had to wait at least a week and then you could still buy max 1-2 items …

think the peak ratings in 2v2 and 3v3 shouldnt be flatened like it is now. The point where the line is flatening in 2v2 and 3v3 should be more upright

to play the best bracket for your specc and get rating? for shoulders/weapon or offpieces and finally titles and higher xp?

not any of this are even remotly an example or comparable.

This is a game, and competition/compeditive.

Rating and titles are the goal, gear is the medium/ressource you need to be on close to a same lvl with the ppl you face to have equal chances and to let skill/strategy decide who wins and not the gear.

Deillusional if you think people will still queue in 6 weeks after fullgeared from 1500 5s. Almost no one who is hardstuck 1400-1600 in 2v2 or 3v3 will continue playing because the wont get anything else for the rest of the season without a boost. Ladders will die.
Around 2000 mmr in 3s you already have problems to get queues on a saturday noon.

So many people got gear during offseason in s1, s2 and s3. This players just collect gear. Now they get gear during the season but dont try to push anyway.

They dont really play. This change will make it worse. Just one activ bracket. That will be 5s.

Did you ever played in a activ 5s? Do you know how hard it is to find a time where everyone can play?

Imagine tryharding and playing 2200 in 2v2. Get less points than a 1400 rated 5v5.

Why will this change make the ladder inactiv:

Example 1:
You are safe duelist. Gladiator is like 350 rating away. Why would continue playing when your already tryharding and cant make it.

Example 2:
You get gladiator rating on 2v2 or 3v3 and it is a huge succes for you. Why keep playing? You get points for playing with people from tradechat

Example 3:
You got a rating in 2v2 or 3v3 and you are not sure if you can push or lose rating in the queue. You stop playing this team. You are inactiv on the ladder.
----------‐---------------------------------------------------

You play for fun. You do not care about anything or already have anything. You just want to play. Do you think there will play more, less or equal player in 2v2 or 3v3?

The problem is to enjoy pvp you need a good amount of players actually playing arena.
The ones who like to push for titles are way above 2k rating. The ones who like to reach their personal goal of weapon/shoulder will push (or get boosted) until they get to the required rating and will sit there. while the main ressource bracket will be 5s (3 games per week with 4 chars anyone?)…
As a person who wants to compete in arena myself i need opponents in my MMR range.
I have the fear that there will be noone in this MMR area in 4-5 weeks, when everyone is 5k arena points capped because of 5s.
The complete player base that cover 1500-2000 will be gone.
i cannot see how this is an improvement to the pvp community other than getting everyone pvp gear.

legion made gear irrelevant in pvp and it was one of the most active seasons?

Those arguments have litterly no foundation.

I have no problems getting ques in 5s on 2.2 mmr and even in 3s or 2s on 2kmmr

you just wait a bit longer sometimes.

and 2.2 in 5s is already at range of the top 50-60 teams on EU

this wont happen

It will happen. Im dead sure.

I came back for legion. Was whole day in ashran and than quit because you also got the random conquest piece for free. You got everything in a day. Had a lootbox where you could not buy what you want. It was a mess. Random after arena matches. No PvP vendor. Did not like it at all. This is way i was motivated to play tbc classic

Does anybody know, what is the breakpoint rating in 2v2s in order to get the same AP as in 0 rating 5v5s?

Thank you. But this factor also the latest AP-gain increase that came with P5?

that was WoD not legion with ashran as content feature and conq gear out of its chest

You are right, ashran was in WOD

the graphs shows the points earned based on the rating since yesteday.

you can see the old calculation here on this website. a short breakdown is on my first post at the top.

what do you think about it? please consider this:

2v2:
1443 best 35% challenger
1918 best 10% rival
2228 best 3% duelist
2812 best 0,3% gladiator
3027 best 0,1% gladiator rank 1
