Arenas dont ruin PVP but

Dampening does.

Dampening shouldnt exist.

If players are unable to kill the other team without dampening there is clearly way too much healing and manaregen in game.

Now there has been arena games where top players lika Pikaboo are commentating that they are just waiting for 50%dampening to be able to nuke someone down. This is exactly one reason that ruins world pvp/bg

If players want arenas to last like this, maybe increase healing and manaregen in arenas, that slowly decays away, so some classes/specs arent just complete raid bosses in world pvp or battlegrounds

Wrong forum buddy.

Also reason why pikaboo waiting till 50% damp is destro/mage is so busted and their healer can drink anytime = while their healer can drink anytime removal of dampening will make this 100x worse.

or remove LoS from arena

Because destro locks really need a buff.

How can you maintain balance between healers being able to do their job in 10+ man BGs and not get phased out completely, while also taking out dampening in smaller scale PvP?

Or they can add another mechanic - like in swtor, where if 2 teams can beat each other in 5 minutes there is sudden death activated with poison slowly moves into the center of the arena, in that posion u canā€™t recieve any heal and take periodic damage. Problem solved. Plus there Best of 3 games instead only 1 in wow. Games faster, more fun and without any ā€œpillar kissing untill big dampā€ tactics thats makes others be mad.

More like problem created.
Such a system would benefit melee players since itā€™d force casters in close range, and itā€™d also favor AOE classes since everyone would end up clumped.

Practically speaking, wouldnā€™t that accomplish the exact same thing that dampening does?

Let me ring you inside the poison then. Orgrimmar arena? Remember? It was removed for reasons.

Yep.
Dampening is a ugly band aid fix to cover up the core issue, healers are just too strong and not fun to play with / against.

Thatā€™s how you balance ranged and meleeā€¦

Anyway arenas must take a look and reworked, their mechanics just srsly outdated and not fun. Arena player base decreased every expansion, new players donā€™t want to play in it and old just quit.

The Arena crowd shrinked not because of how arenas work, but because of dumbed down class design and forced PVE.

The thing that would fix ā€œarena mechanicsā€ is to make classes more fun to play. The toolkits are much too streamlined, and you can do way too much progress just by "pve"ing people and maybe cycling a simple-to-execute CC chain everytime itā€™s off DR.

In MMORPG always will be about META, something will be better and preffer by most of the players. Thats canā€™t be fixed. There is was the great idea about templates in Legion thats makes tones of old players rage, coz they canā€™t outgear others and loot rating coz they played more.

There are a lot more reasons to rage at templates, and at Legion pvp in general, than just the inability to outgear people.

Gearing for PvP was very lenient in MoP and WoD, and people regard MoP pretty highly, and WoDā€™s pvp is considered to be the only arguably positive aspect of said expansion.

Players thats preffer PvP raging 24/7 always. No matter what expansion or system work in. Thats why its the most toxic community here, that canā€™t find teammates coz they think that they are playing as 3.5K in mind(am so gut! yea!) but sit at 2.1 coz of teammates.

Huh, itā€™s easy.
The side with more and more talented healers wins.
Easy?

What?
If you nerf healing to the point where dampening is not necessary in arenas, healers would just get railed instantly, why would you even want a healer for anything pvp related at that point?

This dampening crap hasnā€™t always existed.
So does it exist now?
The system exists because healers ARE overtuned.
They have ALWAYS been strong, but now theyā€™re out of hand.
Itā€™s as simple as that.
You can have more healers than the enemy side and still lose.
Atleast, it was the case before, if you ignored certain people.
