I’m only talking about the visuals here and I know tier sets only really came back in the last SL patch, but we’ve still had raid sets that were mostly uninspired and dull for 80% of the classes.
The main problem, aside from the general lack of creativity (and maybe precisely because of that) is that they’ve been trying to make raid-themed sets ever since they stopped making normal tier sets in Legion, and I highly doubt anyone prefers looking like an Eternal Palace fish or an Elementalist NPC in greens rather than looking like their class.
Class fantasy is extremely important which is why class halls and artifacts were so popular, and it’s been dead from the armor set pov ever since Legion ended. Please stop making raid themed sets because they look cheap, stupid and they don’t fit the majority of classes. Hire new artists who still have some semblance of creativity or even outsource the designs, just bring back cool, class-themed sets.
I’d even take remakes of OG sets ToS style over the blandness we’ve been getting for over 4 years now.
As a shaman Im happy with the DF tier set look, but ANY other class looks ridiculous honestly.
SL was good for deathknights, locks sort of and maybe rogues, but imagine as a resto shaman who wields water and earth, skulls and bones and the entire edge lord thing just looked lame.
If everyone in the DF raids didn’t transmog their tier sets we’d look like power rangers.
Seriously Blizz, give us sets that stand out and align with the classes, no more of this lazy sh***. Tier sets are the pinnacle of gear looks for each expansion. It’s what defines your character. Most transmogs nowadays are from legion and that’s saying something
I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking of rabbits when I see it I kind of like the paladin one, but definitely not the hunter and the DK. Although I farmed the mail primal set as I like the snowy, northern look of that set
SL made the cardinal sin with Covenants by mixing the aesthetics/theme with power and basically everything else. It was a good system for people who ONLY cared about power or ONLY about cosmetics, everyone else who cares about both got a fat one unless they got ridiculously lucky with their class matching up with what they wanted to play and what was good.
The worst part is that most armor sets are still just plain stupid skins on top of the character model. At this point, basically ever high end armor set should be made entirely out of 3d parts that don’t look like clown shoes.
This game cuts costs at every corner and rakes up hundreds of million every month from subs alone. How many of the 8 (again only 8 or 7 tbh cause of Uldaman) new dungeons reuses big parts of the open world of their area?
How good did t3 and t5 and 6 etc look though! When i first started wow back mid > late vanilla the friend who got me into the game rocked up in Elwynn forrest in full paly t2, that was me sold it looks amazing then he took me down deadmines and started dropping consecrations about, and well here i am what 17 years later or something lol.
Absolutely, my favorite thing ever since TBC onwards was firing up atlas loot or the dungeon journal later on, and looking at the new sets to hype me up for the expansion.
Ain’t no one out there who’s gonna jump into Wow thinking “OH BOY, I can’t wait to make my demon hunter look like a stupid Fortnite glowstick with the DF tier set”.
I remember trying to look at items in atlas from raids that werent quite out yet and it would DC you!!! Those were the days lol. Does atlas loot still get updated and the likes?
