I always liked fury more, but i recently tried arms warrior, and i immediately noticed a big problem.
For most well designed classes you can generally get 90 % of the full effectiveness in a build by sacrificing some st and some aoe in order to have a more balanced build.
In short what i mean is that you can fully build for aoe, or fully build for st, and do extremely well in either of those categories, but there is also the option of forgoing some of that aoe or some of that st in order to have a more balanced build. This is the case for every spec in the game, but some do this far better than others, and arms is one of the weak specs in this department.
With specs that are well designed, you can get about 80 to 90% of the effectiveness in both aoe and st if you do decide to take that approach and have a more versatile build.
This isn’t the case for arms. In arms you can either do good aoe, or good st damage. That’s it.
The difference between building for st, and building for aoe is massive, and there is basically no way to have a balanced build and get 80 to 90 % of the full effectiveness.
I think part of the reason is because of how badestorm works, and how the talent tree is designed. Bladestorm is just awful, sorry to say, but it’s just a terrible ability, ravager is superior in every way, in no small part because it allows you to use abilities while ravager is down.
In fact, i remember distinctly that i made a post a long time ago about exactly this, and some people telling me how i was wrong. I wasn’t. Ravager>>>>>>bladestorm.
Look, you wanna keep bladestorm for arms and ravager for fury? Allow us to use abilities in between, and maybe add a talent where the more rage you spend during bladestorm, the stronger and longer it becomes. That would immediately turn bladestorm from an awful to an amazing ability.
Anyway, just wanted to point this out, it’s unlikely that i will play arms anyway, but if they can make it better, why not?
Afterall, why would i play arms and be forced to specialize, when i can just use fury and do just fine in both aoe and st at the same time?
