Arms warrior in PvE (m+) is clunky to play; improvement ideas

This is for PvE and mythic + only.

  • Arms warrior has so many rotational abilities which for some reason all have a separate cooldown: Overpower, Mortal Strike, Cleave, Thunder Clap, Sweeping Strikes, Warbreaker, Thunderous Roar, Ravager etc., which means after your opener, none of your abilities line up naturally, preventing any kind of flow - it feels really clunky and bad. It is basically best to “just press everything on cooldown” after your first go.
  • A massive improvement for Arms would be to remove Thunder Clap, make Cleave baseline, remove its cooldown, and give Cleave all the effects Thunder Clap has (Cleave applies Rend and 20% slow). In addition to this, improve the visual effect of Cleave so the arc in which the ability cleaves is crystal clear.
  • Furthermore, add Thunderous Roar, Champion’s Spear and Demolish to abilities affected by Anger Management so these abilities line up better with Warbreaker and Bladestorm/Ravager, allowing for a natural flow of the spec and more fun.

In my opinion Arms has too many redundant abilities and talents, Colossus Smash / Warbreaker should be merged into one ability.

Thunder Clap makes no sense as Arms, our Rend spreader should be Cleave as you mentioned. I would also make Sweeping Strikes a passive rather than a button to reduce bloat.

Your suggestion for Anger Management is good, but let’s not forget that the other choice node (Spiteful Serenity) is a dead talent, it needs a rework.

Besides those points, and tuning aside, I think Arms feels pretty good. I’m glad most of the spec nodes are passives rather than actives otherwise it would be unbearable to play.

nice ideea

true! i agreee totaly

Arms is a resource management spec with cooldowns which varies up the priorities and adds a ton of depth to the spec, there are a lot of situations and changing priorities during gameplay. A lot of the things you are complaining about in the first 2 paragraphs would be more accurate to call “complex” not “clunky”. These are the things that keep the spec engaging for those of us who have been playing it for years. If you find it too difficult, you can learn incrementally or roll fury.

Arms looked to be very strong and all of a sudden we get a massive influx of rerollers who want everything dumbed down hard because they can’t be bothered having to learn the most basic spec mechanics. Not every spec needs to be BM hunter where you only need to play for 2 hours to hit the skill ceiling, take your time to learn the flow and feel and you’ll get there. The last thing we need is for the spec to be dumbed down so it can cater to FOTM loonies. Thankfully it just got nerfed, so hopefully these difficulty complaints go away again.

Arms isn’t a resource management spec in terms of rage. There is no point in pooling it. You hit your abilities on cooldowns or when certain buff and debuff conditions are met. It’s not a difficult spec either, it just doesn’t flow as well as others specs. Pressing your bigger abilities off cooldown as soon as they become available after your opener doesn’t feel synergistic, and having both Thunder Clap and Cleave at the same time doesn’t feel complex, it feels unnecessary.

I don’t see why you bother trying to argue with somebody that believe our spec is complex.

I would add, revamp fully Rallying Cry to go back to a normal amount of HP increase in 5 men dungeons. I understand the necessary nerf for raiding, but this ability is utterly useless in M+ right now and needs to be buffed in this bracket specifically.

Discard Spear and re-implement Skull Banner with +x% damage & +x% crit. Banner cannot stack (to avoid crazy pill up in raid), you can even make it a choice node to increase damage reduction on 1 option, and damage output on the other.

Thunderclap should really go as a rent spreader that probably my number one problem right now

Ok, and now imagine how awesome it would be if Cleave would spread Rend, it would be fluent af.

beside the 3diff berserker shout rage roar that we have to trade talent point plus pvp talent plus we give up piercing howl plus if we use berserker to get out of fear we lose the chance to use it when we want to have a a cc reduction what in the wotld is this design like how is this possible where other classes have their utility so easy to take we have to trade so much….its make no sense….how they do this

Dont bother for some reason they are not able to think sick design like ur ideea they cant understand what warriors need ,only thing they get to do is to nerf

First they fake buff on ptr some skills like mortal strike after they remove what skill is working properly like sharpen blade and before 2-3 days pach release they nerf all skills and there you go we are trash again. Now arms warriors is worst than season 1

I would take off thunder clap for sure and make it prot only.
Cleave should put rend bleeds.
Also for me and may be controversial but blade storm and ravager should go.

Cleave already has way too much priority in this EXP because of the hero talent passives, the last thing we need is to be pressing cleave 96% of the time instead of 94%, stay fury if you want to dribble on your keyboard.

If you are cleaving 94% of the time your are doing something wrong Mr. level 10 four posts warrior.
