I know this is going to be a relatively controversial topic and possibly asked before so if people can be civil that’d be great…
What do people think about the potential for allowing artifact appearances to be unlocked for other classes, if you have completed the same encounter on another class.
An example here being that when I did play Legion, I completed the Kruul encounter on Prot Warr, which is the same for Guard Druid.
Obviously topics like this do invite further questions/what could be considered a similar argument, with 2 different outcomes:
Would this therefore set the tone and mean that, were it accepted, people would want MoP CM appearances across all of their characters? These were not based on spec but class based, so not exactly the same. You were however given 1 egg token for a phoenix but later given all if you didn’t already have them. This was not initially the case and was retroactively added, showing the case that in some circumstances, the policy surrounding these types of achievements do get changed.
WoD CM appearances, obviously once you completed, the weapons were available to all of your characters, regardless of a priest completing and being granted access to a polearm etc. These were also available to all characters on your account, regardless of which character completed it. Would you see this as more of a justification for the above, or not due to the fact that it was always this way?
Interested to hear what people’s views on this are. I’ll go ahead and say I’d welcome changes like this as I feel people have earned it and it makes the game encourage you to play how you want. You may want to reroll a new class but feel trapped as previous progress is locked to a single character (such as the teleports).
I did it on all tank classes and I am not sure if I’d be on board on this. I mean i would still benefit from the change as I did not get all specialisations done on all classes, but I am still hesitant… each kill, each fight, each attempt was unique. I. esince tanks were mentioned. Druid=easiest, at time monk=hardetst and while same boss neither of experiences were same for me.
Or the Xylem. I did it with survival hunter, frost dk, DH and rogue. And by far DH and rogue were like tie your hands behind you and do it blind folded* (my DH got the boss kill into the rage, so… :P) but frost dks - slow, without double leaps, lower dps at time etc etc - those players had it way more challenging. Or survival hunters - not even remotely on the same level of easy as Dhs had.
Then we have the boss with worms - disc priests, windwalkers, and Bm hunters did (and was there anyone else?) - disc priest was standing there dpsing and outhealing all, hunters cheesing things with pet, and then only one actually needing to pay even some attention were windwalker monks.
So would it be fair to just give the items out without player doing the fights on proper class/spec combo ?
I feel it is not.
I am not against sharing things, but here I do have mixed feelings
Sure, this is the kind of feedback I welcome in these posts and something I retrospectively missed out of the initial post.
I feel that there are limits to what should and shouldn’t be account wide, but that there are definitely rather large grey areas. One thing that stands out to me is that the mage tower appearances are now not spec specific, so when SMF becomes a thing, my warrior can use some nice flails!
I’m pretty severely sleep deprived right now (and when I made the post). I did want to draw attention to my and other people’s experiences of class alterations between expansions where a class you enjoyed playing during one era of wow, has been changed (perhaps fundamentally) and you no longer enjoy it.
This was my experience of various specs throughout wow:
Fury - Removal of stance dancing made it easier but less potential.
Survival - No explanation required.
Moonkin - As listed above, fundamentally changed to the point that I went from loving to hating it and felt the need to reroll.
If changes happen where you feel forced out of a spec into one that you enjoy more, what are your feelings on losing character progression for content that is no longer available?
With this in mind, it has made me lean further towards making more things account-wide
It should just be kept as is, nice and simple. if you did it you have it, if you didn’t you missed out.
Just because you know how to play X class doesn’t mean you also know how to play Y class, even if the encounter is the same.
The reward is prestigious, one of the few solo prestigious things you could obtain, and it should remain that way. It’ll never be the same, not now we’re done with 7.3 or whenever it was.
I see an Arcane mage with their Mage Tower weapon and I know they’re a competent Mage who earned it. Not a competent Paladin (I forgot who shared the Arcane Mage one) who was handed a freebie on their brand new alt.
