When running Wilfred and talented into Soul Conduit, Tyrant is down to about 45-50 sec cd. It is basically a regular spell in the rotation given its CD and dmg. I feel like I’m lacking a main Nuke CD.
How about giving us a baseline Nether Portal? Or something new.
I dont even feel the need, although I see what you mean. When playing m+12 and up, If the tank pulls big packs our aoe is awesome and single target is fine when using tyrant( Just did 10k on last boss in HoA). Its the clunkyness and rampup that needs to be adressed in the spec, as I see it.
they need to adjust numbers. we can all agree the top locks are beasts in dps, but they also have 226+ gear.
what i noticed when doing my KSM, is that we locks have like 4.5/5k overal in sims with X gear, while other classes like mages and druids have 7k overal with the same ilvl.
weak in PvP? yes, unending resolve not being able to break ALL forms of CC for at least 4 seconds (not to mention the 6 seconds of interrupt/kick) and being usually unable to cast anything whatsoever is a bit disastrous.
but in PvE, WL is not that bad. apart from affliction WL competing for top 1 with moonkin in mythic raid-environment, even destructionWL can hold its ground in the top 10
Demo is underrepresented because of many tech/design/balance issues.
In the raids demo is almost lowest played spec, that looses this quiestionable crown only to survival hunters.
In M+ demo is barely 0.7-0.9% of all DPS classes.
And if we in strictly damage compartment demo is fine, the key design and mechanics moments of the spec is what that makes us not viable for modern content. There is just more classes that will do same amount of damage with less time and effort, providing more useful utility for teammates.
If you take away Demonic consumption you’ll soon find out that your Tyrant deals almost zero damage - 12-15k damage, it is litteraly 3 aimed shots from the hunter in PvE.
And your burst is locked behind talents, and on top of that the key parts of that burst is also locked behind talents - vilefiend and Grimoire: Felguard.
This is not only creates situation where spec doesn’t have burst on it’s own, but your burst is also separated to three talents - this is not a good design.
Additionaly, demonic consumption doesn’t leaves any room for other talents in that row, because NP could provide slightly better damage, but on 3 min CD, while DC uses tyrants CD for 1.5 mins, and Sac. Souls is just undertuned for second Xpac in the row.
And all this situation with burst is just tip of the iceberg, because under the surface demo severely lacks of baseline active and passive abilities. Currently we only have 14 abilities in our demonology tab, while fire mages have 27, frost and arcane 26, balance 24 or 22, WW 33, Havok 29, SP 28.
Right now, we have on our hands probably the most underdesigned and underdeveloped spec, that just has some decent raw numbers and visuals that tries to hide all gaps of the design.
Not to mention even if Sac souls wasn’t undertuned and the ramup wasn’t problem it also would suffer from the same issue as Tyrant build.
It is tied to
Talents - 3 in fact, Sacsouls itself as well as Inner demons and Power siphon, kinda into From the Shadows as well which is 4 actually
Covenant ability, to get results, you’ll need Decimating bolt, SL only feature
Covenant soulbind - If you want it to be bursty, you’ll be picking Emeni
Balespider legendary
So yeah it is just as bad as tyrant if not worse, not very good design.
I have also heard many Youtubers and other people say demo has lot of synergy in talents, and yeah it kinda does have build choice but everything about the spec is so heavily tied into this choice that it might be a bad thing in the end.
They just need to give us permanent prince Malcezar or Shivara from inner demons. In that case, we will always have a strong tyrant and two strong pets as demonology is supposed to be.
