New forms completely miss the mark. The point is this model, just like the old one, has nothing shamanistic about it.
We commune with the elements… You need to implement a Dathea type model or straight up let us summon an elemental in place of ascendance.
We’re not drust witch clowns or twilight cultists

There is never pleasing some people xD

Form is horrible, like a madman clown from a z rank horror movie.
Rather delete ascendance at this point and replace it with elemental mastery (20% haste for 20 seconds).

Some people like it, but I agree that it misses the mark for me.
We had the option to have a dathea style ascendance (with the element around the player model).
We had the option to have a primalist aesthetic if they wanted it closer to the cataclysm ascended.
But this clown thing misses the mark for me. Sure it looks goofy and can be fun, but it feels like an assignment that “needed” to be done, and artists did not have a clear vision.

This is why I don’t spec for ascendance.

Outside of the elemental colouring, I agree. These models look more like fiery/windy/watery banshees than elementals.

what on earth were they thinking with this…looks more like it should be an undead form than a shaman form. Plus still does’nt fix the fact ascendance is a dead spell and has been for a long time, spamming lava burst is just boring gameplay

I don’t even play Shaman, but damn that looks god awful. They need to make that an optional change to the form.

It reminds me of a more humanoid form of those ghosts from Pandaria.
Don’t talk smack about the drust.
They’re one of the coolest people introduced in the last several years!
I’d love more drust stuff.

Personally I focus on healing with this ability than the aesthetic.
Haha apologies, I meant clowns as in colourful drust witches.
I agree drust stuff is cool! just not very shaman themed

Agree. These are ugly as hell. They look like clowns with that hair.
Now I need a glyph to get the old one back, which also sucks, but is at least not as awful looking as these new ones.
Why couldn’t they spend more than 5 minutes designing something actually cool looking? Or hire someone who doesn’t hate Shamans.

Do we need a HD view of that thing to know it looks awful and not at all fitting of a shaman?

These new forms would be interesting as a glyph, but not as the main design. They have so many sick elementalist models in the game to just copy/paste and they still can’t get it right. They should have put a community poll out with various options. Winner gets to be the new default Ascendance model, and maybe the runners up get added as glyphs/customizations in the future. But I guess that would be too much hard work.
Not sure how they could miss the mark this bad. Again, I would take these as customizations, but that spell has been needing an updated model for years and it deserves better than this.

New model is scary and evil and I don’t want anything to do with it
Indeed, Blizzard don’t seem to be getting that the reason nobody liked the old ascendant model is because it looked nothing like our characters - or indeed anything else.
Not only is it horribly irrelevant to a tauren/vulpera/pandaren/dwarf, but frankly it looks evil and undead/demonic. I could imagine a deathknight summoning this as a caster minion, but it is about as far from my resto shaman class fantasy as I can possibly imagine.
Let’s imagine Thrall turning into one of these for a moment to recognise how out of place it is.
In pure isolation, it could be a cool dungeon boss; probably torturing people with magma, waterboarding, and electrocution. It is an antagonist, not a protagonist.
So let’s re-brief the art team and explain that NPC ascendants aren’t anything to do with this player form, and they should forget Cataclysm references nobody remembers or cares about in 2024. We just want to look cool when we press a big cooldown.

Yeah, people been meme-ing this design hard - and rightly so. It’s important that Blizzard realise how jarringly out of place this thing is and make a big change of direction.
Shamans on the whole probably don’t want undead, demon, or evil themes, and this somehow manages to be all three of those without having any shamanistic ‘elements’
The nearest I can see in it is some kind of fallen Vol’jin, but that doesn’t make it relevant to all the other shamanistic races.
If it would look out of place on Thrall, then it’s out of place for shamans.
Please don’t let them revert it like they did with paladins consecration or the new light bolt effects we lost. At least this is miles better than the cataclysm trashmob we turn into now.
