The Kaldorei whilst noble, ancient and controlled people have always had a savage, primal instinct instilled within them.
With the Burning of Teldrassil, thousands dead and the Alliance unable to assist fully, it'd be awesome to see a new dynamic to Night Elven attitudes and their approach to war and other races.
I've always viewed the Kaldorei as somewhat cold, distant and ferocious in nature but reserved due to lessons learned and humbled by mortality.
I'd LOVE to see this atrocity at the hands of the Horde to be met out with ferocity and for the Kaldorei to ascend to greatness once more. I'd hate for us to just retake Darkshore and then that it is - we should be changed completely by the genocide of our people and embrace vengeance and dominance.
What do you think? What would you like to see?
They'll get new eyes, a reskin, a month of "T&M the !@#$ whipping days" then go right back to being global punching bags. If they're even remembered at all.
Hell they'll probably grow another tree and lose that too, just because Blizzard feels like being spiteful.
How cool would it be to see Tyrande take the reigns as the Night Warrior and give the Horde a real run for their money?
Night elves should have been the alliance version of the forsaken from the beginning.
At this point it feels far, far too late for them to suddenly become a pariah.
“Uhhh I guess we forgot who we were for 14 years…”
Personally I feel all this “night warrior” business only further undermines their race. It’s like it’s literally saying “Well, clearly night elves are a garbage race, they need this in order to stand a remote chance against the horde, because without it they’re clearly incapable of accomplishing anything.”
I would argue “the time for vengeance” has already been there ever since the beginning when the orcs invaded Ashenvale in WC3, and even again in Cataclysm when Garrosh made his savage incursion.
Feels really silly to suddenly go “but burning our tree is the final drop!”. There were plenty of final drops before.
Never forget that the Warsong invading Ashenvale under Garrosh were destroying trees and wasting resources just to provoke the locals and had a daily quota of kaldorei ears incentivising genocide.
Wasting resources? Come on now, that lumber went to building towns, outposts and fortresses in Kalimdor and beyond. Warsong love to fight but they’ll seldom commit to a long campaign over nothing. Night elf ears also make great necklaces.
I mean, I haven’t levelled a night elf beyond level fifteen or so, ever. I also haven’t played Alliance consistently for a long time too, so I’m way behind on the faction and racial storylines of the Alliance races. But, it seemed to me, from an enemy and outsider perspective - that Blizzard just didn’t balance the conflict in Ashenvale well at all. The night elves were dealt multiple bad hands. They seemed even more placid about things than the tauren. Even though as a roleplayer and having fought multiple RP-PVP campaigns in Ashenvale, it was extremely satisfying to see Horde banners fly over Silverwind refuge.
This is the problem with time bubbles in expansions. Imo Blizzard should have updated all of the old zones to make it lore-current once you hit level 100.
I for one am glad the night elves are getting back to their savage ways. The years in the Alliance have made them soft.
