So, what do you think? Will they succeed? Will it make you quit WoW if they live up to what they promise? Play both? Or are you not interested in AOC at all?

it looks like an overly ambitious project. it’s either going to be great or complete garbage but I can’t imagine anything in between. It also depends on with what feature-set they go live.
I don’t have time for a second MMO so I won’t be playing it though

I recommend checking out Lazy Peons summary of the game on YouTube and some interview’s the dev gave to some popular streamers. Still like pre-alpha I believe, but to me it looks promising without trying to get to hyped.

It’s essentially a sandbox, so hardly a replacement for wow.

AoC will die as soon as players realize the top guilds will dominate servers and dictate which nodes get developed. As an individual player your contribution won’t matter, you will have to go with what a few no-lifers decide your server is going to be.
And what nodes will be developed will be determined by top guild collusion and what resources different guilds need. If access to bosses is determined by node development, that means you as a normal player won’t be able to determine what bosses you want to fight. Some other players will make that choice for you.

The only word that comes to mind is soulless, they just feel like carbon copies of eachother.

haha yes I know. But I am just curious how the WoW community feels about it. Personally I am glad it looks nothing like WoW and I will probably continue playing WoW next to it.
They promise way too much ,it’s too good to be true
most of the stuff they promise propably won’t work

I need to read up on it a bit more but it sounds a bit like Darkfall.
There’s been multiple games come out that in development have looked good in comparison to WoW, but the reality is the ONLY WoW killer is WoW itself.
Yeah Ashes looks good, but most new games do while there still in development its part of the PR hype most if not all the good MMORPG’S that have released over the past 10 years have failed through their greedy monetisation, thats something we don’t know how Ashes are going to handle yet because they will monitize it for sure, thier a busines they developing the game to make money first and formost.
I’ll give it a shot but I doubt they’ll live up to their promises.

Did you watch Q&A with lead game designer? There will be monthly sub and in game cosmetics you can buy but they wont charge anything for the game/expansions. I like this a lot. I also love a lot of his ideas about rewarding people who want to put time into the game and be better than others. This is my main issue with current wow. Tons of stupid rng in rotation, welfare gear and casuals crying for the same rewards (legendary items and whatnot) as people who do end game content because THEY PAY FOR THE SUB so they deserve it 
I dont know how big their studio is, how many people actually work on this game so even though I’d love to see a new game that could compete with with wow so blizzard would finally have to implement good and player friendly systems instead of this clown fiesta pointless grind, timegating and rng, I’m worried they dont have enough resources to implement what they promise.

I’m following its development and (very shyly) hoping it will be good enough to replace WoW as my MMO of choice. They seem to be designing their system to be very immersive and RP friendly, plus it seems like the kind of game that demands a high degree of player involvement with the rest of the community.
That said the scope of the project is more than impressive, so I am not holding my breath regarding how much of their awesome plans will make it to the final game (assuming there is a final game).
Is it cheap ? Is the grind not too long? Is the gameplay fun? Yes if all yes
its made by ex wow devs so lets hope the people that made the game youre so addicted to are gonna make something better than garbage? you can keep playing the garbage the new devs are making tho. dw.
Low entrance fee as game and expansions will be free. You’ll have to pay for sub and in game cosmetics if you like them.
I am a huuuuuge fan of path of exile. Game is extremely complex with billions of combinations to min max your character. Crafting is on another level. Like theres no other game that could even compete with poe when it comes to crafting. New content doesnt invalidate old one (okay harvest invalidated old crafting but they said they wanted to experiment and harvest will most likely destroy the game) and game is so good I do not mind spending 60 bucks every 3 months to buy supporter pack.
Path of exile or ashes of creation ur talking about?
Will see, many things can change on a wimp.
If its gonna be good as we are getting closer to the release, i will give it a shot.
