Ashes of creation

I didn’t suggest anything. I was just wondering what can be leveraged from that game, because honestly it looks really cool. The idea of freedom in WOW is but a dream, you can’t even say “no” to a quest, and go the opposite direction, because if you do, you are excluded from the new content.

Like, imagine Blizzard keep doing what they have been doing up until now, but alternatively they also build a huge zone/map/unexplored world where some of these rules are applied. That is what these forum should be about… What can be used to add more value to WOW. Not destroy, or replace, but add.

lol! Gaming is about who you play with, not the game itself! If you go play another game with all your friends from wow, you will notice little difference.

WOW is made by developers, where probably the first ones who built the engine don’t even work in Blizzard anymore…

But I understand you, in a way makes a little sense, there is a lot “stuff” and “time” consumed in the game.

I totally agree, more choice in WoW would be great… on paper. I’m not sure if it’s so in practice. Because we’ve had so many games come out trying that and failing. ArcheAge I think was a perfect mix of sandbox and themepark MMO, ruined only by developer greed. But very quickly we found out that when players have freedom, that is basically freedom for the most hardcore and top players to dominate the game. This is what will kill Ashes, by the way. The 1% of players deciding how the entire server will go and quickly you’ll find out that your 3 hours of playing daily are completely meaningless.

Just like we see all of these games, with their open-ended gameplay prop up and then die within a year, so does Blizzard. So far we haven’t had any evidence that this type of open-ended gameplay works on the level of success that WoW is aiming to achieve.

So very true what you just said. It wiil be a challenge for them to overcome that. But, what makes you think WOW is different? from the community side, the 1% hardcore raiders, gold farmers and professional PvP have the most influence in how WOW takes direction. Streamers have direct access to Developers, just check youtube. The remaining is what ever Blizzard decides lore wise, like story, dailies, world quests, etc… But you have to “follow the path” they decide, else you aren’t rewarded item wise. You are actually blocked from content.

Just think about this. why do you think there is so much grinding in game? If there wasn’t any, streamers wouldn’t have content to stream.
Why is the talents, heart of azeroth, legion artifact, and all those systems redesigned over and over, and discontinued each expansion?! Because if nothing new is created, streamers don’t have content to write and talk about. Even if you analyse them closely, they are very similar over and over, just different names.
About balance of specs, lets not even go there, the ink used about this subject…

But don’t get me wrong. Blizzard is Exelent in making new Zones/worlds/expansions and PVE content. I mean, the best! You can’t argue with that. And thank you Blizzard for that, else WOW would have died a long time a go as many others games.

But the “world” part, no existent, we decide nothing. The end game is inside Raids, Dungeons, BGs or AH. You don’t play the “World” part of WOW any more, and we, players, have no impact in it (we never did btw). There is no persistent world (example: you get a few raids of people, go kill the kid (king) Anduin, nothing happens… There is a story, but I, as an individual, have no part of it, because I decide nothing. The new zones, are there to “follow the path”, it is not a persistent world, driven by us. It is created merely to appeal the eye of players such as myself, who always loved the exploration of Open World games.

That is why I found the post (and Ashes of C.) interesting. Because it at least allows players to play the “world” part. There is no written script, or lore, or story.

Who said that i had friend to play wow with in the first place xD

I lost my irl friends like 5 years-ish now, and online… well peoples quit during BFA, so i’m doing solo stuff in BFA.

So your point is more towards those that actually have friends and not towards peoples like me that does not have any friends.

I do agree, the systems they do and the decisions they make is completely from the Developers side and not from the player’s side.
Thus

But yeah overall, if i had friends irl, or online friends that actually was hyped up for and which i’ve known for a couple of months, yeah maybe i’d Try Ashes.
But for now, naah it doesn’t look that interesting to me.

Tried it. Tried every MMO that is able to be played at the current, and I keep returning home.

Feel free to invite me, and boost me :stuck_out_tongue: cause I hardly farm dungeons or raids or anything anymore…

True. I like the new world launch, but the dungeons, raids launched through the expansion are not enough to keep me interested. So I don’t farm a lot of gear, I get under-powered quite quickly.
I do hope the new crafting system changes this gap in the world. So I can do more stuff in open world and keep gear ilvl relevant at least :\

So none of you would take anything from Ashes to implement in WOW?
