Ashes of creation

Do you think WoW developers will fear this MMO and its incredible nodes system? Hope WoW improves this aspect of the game, we can t modify the open world, the WoD system of garrison was boring and imefficient because it was character-bound.
On the other hand the possibility to build your own world, your own map, that Ashes of creation will offer is truly remarkable.
I wait to see the pvp and combact system: after many years it can be the real WoW killer

Only WoW can kill WoW.

And to be fair it almost did a few times.

This. And now with the classic and possible classic tbc etc. it’ll be a long time before wow is getting close to the end of it’s life. Time is a flat circle.

Fear? No… but I’m sure if it has interesting mechanics/systems, Blizzard will put it in their game in some form. They’ve been doing this since forever.

I dont think it’s feasible to put anything like that in wow. Maybe wow2, but i think we all stopped dreaming about that years ago. That being said i also think that there’s a lot of work that can be done to keep wow afloat, even if it were to lose the top place, it could be, say, 2nd or 4th.

I absolutely think that Ashes have the potential to finally dethrone wow. It’s possibly the most ambitious mmo ever and it has the awesome power of being mostly privately funded, so all the decisions are made by an mmo fan, who also strongly engages the community HIMSELF, and not by some nameless board of directors, who never even played the game. But of course, a number of things can still go wrong and all we can do is support and hope for the best.

Yes this. I don’t fear that wow is gone. But I love competition. Because blizzard can use the systems other company’s come up with. (That’s something blizzard does really wel and most of the time they make it better)

WoW is on a league of its own, and I’ve never seen an up-and-coming MMO that’s even put a dent in its momentum. FFXIV maybe came close for a bit, but I think that’s mostly balanced out now.

Ashes of Creation might get some traction because of Asmon’s interest in it and due to its content and systems, but I don’t think it will ever be classed as a WoW killer - maybe more “I play this MMO when Blizzard annoys me/makes my class unplayable/(insert other generic WoW annoyance here)”

I think it’s been universally understood for a while now that the only thing to tie the noose around WoW’s neck is WoW itself.

BUT, Blizzard totally benefits from actually worrying about competition, because it means they step up their game and try harder to make something outstanding, so I hope Ashes of Creation is at least good enough to take them out of their comfort zone. It means we’ll get excellent systems in future patches and expansions, or at least we can hope.

Has there not been at least 5 games that have announced themselves as that in the past?

Ashes of creation seems to be like a classic sandbox with a ton of feature creep. Not sure if it will even launch.

I think we will need to wait and see how it actually plays. Remember that Cyberpunk promised a whole host of features that never made it into the final release.

For people who are not sure what Ashes of Creation is about (and maybe a few who obviously haven’t found out enough xd

I’m hyped for AOC.
What will make or break the game for me is the combat system.
If it’s anywhere near to WoW’s combat (tab targeting, 30+ spells) then I’ll most likely leave WoW.

It’s supposed to be a hybrid with action combat and tab targeting.

the only gaming company thats able to create a real competition for wow is riot games.

ashes will come out in like, 8 years,

Tbh the nodes system is a game changer in MMO family.
We have never seen something like that, story entirely made by gamers for gamers.
It can blow up WoW…at least if AoC has a decent combact system, that is by far the true WoW greatness against competitors

People have been saying every game is gonna be the WoW killer.
Heck people have even said what I just said a million times by now that the joke is dead lmao.

Ashes of Creation is going to rely heavily on a cosmetic store.

And this is where I believe the crux of the game will come, it has a subscription fee and it has a cosmetic store, greed will overtake and you will be forced to buy good looking gear in the store on top of the subscription fee.

FFXIV is the only MMORPG that have balanced both, the FFXIV cosmetic store isn’t even better looking than gear you can obtain in game. Which surprised me. It is under Square Enix afterall.

Ashes of Creation will remain a small niche game, its systems are too hardcore for a majority of MMORPG players, the “cosmetic only” webshop will prevent you from getting any good looking gear in game which just makes you bored of watching your character as there will be terrible progress in terms of looks, which is also important in a RPG.

Every mmorpg will find it’s players , wow has it’s subers that will never go away ( most of them )
Ashes will not be so great they advertise a lot of stuff that are almost impossible to code . Dreams and pumped pr-ism for average joe’s.

The game isn’t even out yet, and they are already charging up to 375$ for special packs…for a game you can’t even play yet…right…I think I’ll keep myself away from blatantly greedy developers. There’s not even a release date yet
