Aspects turned into teletubbies

Is it so hard to hire some good writers? There is no conflict, no plot twists, nothing to keep story interesting. The only thing surprising is how predictable everthing is. I feel like I’m playing a game meant for pre-school children.

The devs tried to put a darker quest in the game and alexstrasza was trending on twitter for the last 2 days

the twitter mob decides what should or should not be in the game

I mean last few plot twists I recall from WoW at large were
“Sylvanas is evil and doesn’t care about Horde”
“Jailer is behind Lich King, Sylvanas going evil and few other things that happened in the past”
“Jailer just wanted to protect mortals from some sort of higher cosmic threat”.

Yeah I wouldn’t expect much in this department from WoW.

Still more interesting than the Boringlands we currently have. Especially the Covenant Questlines from the first patch were more intertwined and eventful than both DF patches combined. I really hope 10.2. and 10.3. will turn up the heat in regard to evolving story points and impacts of what’s happening on the world, otherwise DF won’t give me much to work with to make my own characters go through some interesting developments.

Aspects right now feel like this emo teen band, you just go through their different growing phases.

The aspects, the aspects, say “eho”

“EHO!”

Merithra, duh.

Depends on your definition of interesting. For me it definitely wasn’t neither fascinating or interesting to see BfA turning into another “Horde Bad” story with Pure bois alliance breaking their backs trying to justify why Horde should not be dismantled ending with Horde once again having the case of “it’s Warchief’s fault and they only saw Horde as tool” which let’s them go off easy with no lasting consequences. Seeing new Villain that gets retconned in to boost his credibility, turning the major cosmic force into idiot that allowed her followers to die and didn’t even make sure they ended in right place and then pulling the cheapest plot device to justify/redeem Sylvanas (seriously? A variation of Mind Control?) And then when the plot was not making sense suddenly trying to turn the main bad into “Well intended Extremist?”. Yeah I start to seriously doubt which is worse.

Looking at D4… No. Blizzard definitely still has some good writers working for them.

Well, the Horde has been bad from the start. Horde at its core is orcs, they’re a bunch of aliens invading Azeroth, thinking they have a right to claim the land for themselves. Never understood why anyone would want play that faction… or then compain about being portrayed as the baddies.

That’s a misinterpretation sadly many ppl made. To me it was absolutely clear from the start that elune was just another god / godess like all other “gods” in WoW; just a “super human” that makes mistakes like everybody else. And she didn’t let her ppl die, she couldn’t have stopped that. What she did was NOT turn them into wisps, like she usually would have done but instead sent them onward to the Shadowlands, and yes, of course she didn’t know what was happening there, just like the Pantheon of Deaht doesn’t know what’s happening in other cosmic realms.

Errr… no? It was explicitly stated that she wasn’t midn controlled, and she also wasn’t redeemed, which is why she’s now serving penance in the Maw…

Not going against that, but we also don’t know what’s more to come in that regard. Plus there are some really cool theories around regarding that point - that maybe the Jailer was actually controlled by the Primus etc.
But that’s the point - DF is so bland, you can’t even develop any cool theories or possible plot twists because there is nothing to work with.

Let’s forget the influence of Demonic Blood and the fact that during entire Warcraft 3 was about Orcs doing their best to sever that connection, and it was Human side during Orcs Bonus campaign in Frozen Throne that tried to reignite the conflict while Thrall’s Horde just tried to live in peace. Or that Expansions till MoP kept portraying both sides with their own shades of grey until all morally dubious Alliance actions were retconned out. Yeah that obviously never happened.

Possibly. She’s still the highest order of celestial beings shown in WoW since as far as I know she’s above titans and is actively worshipped by multiple civilizations among the cosmos. Yet Loa tied solely to Azeroth and being killable by mortals seem to be more competent.

Oh right sorry not mind control. Only her soul being effectively halved leaving only her evil side that was easily manipulated by Jailer. Much difference there considering how much she changes after her soul is made whole again. And yes doing dailies in Maw with possibility to return when Blizzard deems so. Definitely appropriate retribution for someone with her list of sins.

True but I don’t consider it worse. Ultimately fan theories usually remain just that, theories. And knowing Blizzard they’d just dash them by forgetting that Jailer ever existed. Just like they handwaved the freaking blade sticking out from Azeroth.

There are so many entities in WoW lore that have names with something “Horde” in them, so it is very easy to get confused. I’m not gonna hold it against you! But Horde as a current player faction have races that predate everything else native to Azeroth, certainly so than anything you can have access to in Alliance. And blaming player faction Horde for anything that only orcs had done would be as silly and closeminded as blaming Alliance for what only night elves or only draeneis had done – the latter race that could also qualify as “aliens”, by the way. Their part in that whole Burning Legion invasions thing I would consider to be much more prominent than orcs’…

For your original topic, yeah, sadly, Dragonflight still doesn’t shine in that regard and there’s still a very stong influence of completely unneccesary modern American politics. Less than serviceable most of the time, and I had the same trouble reading through DF quests as I did with SL ones. Although, Black dragons line in 10.0 and blue dragons line in 10.1 were genuenely good and engaging in both design and production value, so it feels like Blizzard might yet get back on track!

You do not understand the situation and where WoW is at the moment.
The World of Warcraft went too hard on increasingly bad writing and storytelling through BfA and Shadowlands, and is now on rehab trying to just rehabilitate until the next expansion.
