The Aszuna elves are neutral, as we know. But I noticed something very interesting.
In the Alliance portal room, it’s the Aszuna elves themselves who open up a portal to Aszuna.
Meanwhile; in the Horde portal room it’s the Nightborne of Suramar who open up the Portal to Aszuna.
Could it be that Aszuna is actually more alliance leaning?
We know that Tyrande accepted the Highborne (at least the Dire maul ones) to rejoin Night elf society. So she would be fine with the Aszuna elves knowing they are very much against Azshara.
The only reason she was against the Nightborne is that they are changed physically and they had a leader (Elisande) who was very similar to Azshara herself.
think they are only neutral due to gameplay reasons, kind of similar as we help thrall, or horde helps tyrande, Azuan elfs are pretty much alliance now.
To be honest, they’ve been dead for 10000 years and I don’t think they really care about Horde or Alliance.
The fact that they are in the portal room is, in my eyes, because someone at Blizzard thought it would look cool, and thats it.
Probably gameplay over lore, since there’s no Alliance faction on the Broken Isles, not even Alliance-aligned mages, so they just gave us Farondis elves.
The Horde got the Suramarian elves on the Broken Isles, so they got those, obviously.
No actually the reason why Tyrande didn’t accept the Nightborne is because during the war of the ancients instead of helping their brothers and sisters they just created a bubble and hid inside it without giving a crap about the rest of their race. So Tyrande was worried after helping them they would just do that again.
Think the Farondis crew have more pressing, homely matters than going to leap into another damaging conflict whilst trying to repair their own.
Far as I know, the Alliance do not have the one thing Farondis is trying to research for, so why bother? Not everything has to involve “but muh race is in x faction!”.
Farondis is technically a highborne of the Kal’dorei, as children of the stars is somewhat unified or general name for ancient elven nation from which others sprung up over time. So what you see in Azsuna are kal’dorei elves, despite being dead. After the sundering the empire fragmented and split into few “kingdoms”, with Suramar being left forgotten, the exiles travelled east and founded Quel’thalas. Those who followed Tyrande made Teldrassil as their new home. All this while the original elves of Suramar were left isolated on broken isles. So I don’t really see Farondis and his elves as a new nation, faction yes, but they belong to Kal’dorei.
…Yes, I dont think I was denying their right of existence as Kal’dorei/Highborne or any of the sort, especially since they look like them, act like them, belong in a society like them despite its ruination.
But that still doesn’t mean they owe the Alliance or the current Kal’dorei anything. Neither does it mean the latter have what they need.
Yes??? No???
I have no idea. But really, from WQ’s alone, if they are to be accounted for, last time Farondis was trying to figure out the concoction that ‘free’d’ that mixologist dude away.
They could have taken the remaining Highelves of Dalaran to avoid confusion though, but that would require them remembering things from more than a few months ago.
They couldn’t, the Silver Enclave was replaced by Gilneans… somehow.
And they couldn’t use Dalarani magi either, since they made Dalaran neutral again.
Every race except, the Highmountain and Suramarian elves, are also still neutral or have no mage users or have no presence in Aszuna, so that really only leaves the Court of Farondis’ magi.
I never understood this. The sunreavers area was replaced by Forsaken as well. It’s like they tried to diversify Dalaran instead of it being a Human and Thalassian infested city
To be fair, they could have used remaining Moon Guard magi. My headcanon is that these spectral mages weren’t officially sent to Stormwind, but rather chose to. To see more than just their broken lands.
You only need two for a portal. And besides, when has Blizzard ever actually cared for numbers? It’d have been a cool way to establish the Highborne in darnassian society some more.
