Hello fellow argent Dawn friends!
I wanted to ask about your ideas about something i had in mind
In mag’har unlock scenario, we find out that Draka holds a Garrison in Nagrand, means probably there are still mag’har in AU draenor, and there are Lightbound draenei aswell
So, i wanted to know your opinions about having RP in AU Draenor, now that we have Both mag’har and Lightforged playable
There could be a hub in thete alongside skirmishes and even small rp pvp, in a world separate from MU Azeroth
And of course i mean the mag’har whom involved are those that didn’t come to Azeroth and cannot come, same with Lightbound, totally not Army of the Light ones from MU, but Lightbound whom reside on draenor
I think it can work with dedicated group of players, but there is always a problem of exclusivity. Any character created for the sake of this RP can never interract outside of the guild/community, which means that it´s going to be naturally something people do on their alts.
There is another problem when it comes to the story. Skirmishes between Lightbound and Mag´har are bound to get boring when there is nothing between them, but what else can you do in a setting so much focused on the main theme?
I think this could be very popular if you don’t RP it in the present, but in the past (before Mag’har got to Azeroth). This way you might draw people who are interested in fleshing out the past of their characters that they perhaps already RP in the present on Azeroth.
Instead of regular RP, I suggest maybe something akin to a campaign. I don’t believe it is possible for the Mag’har to return and the Lightforged there aren’t the ones that we play.
In getting much more of a market for the mag’har players wanting to play flashbacks, you’ll still get people wanting to play throwaways with the Lightforged. I think a week or two of this would be much better than however long just Mag’har/Lightbound RP on AU Draenor set in the present, at least
Sorry for being negative Nancy here, but I wish the atrocity that was WoD and Draenor lore would’ve never happened and the AU story to be outright forgotten.
But if people want to RP in such a setting, be my guest, might make for some interesting concepts, but I don’t think many would be interested considering Draenor and its… reputation.
The Burning Legion is an interdimensional demon army. We have bronze dragons surveilling and at times interferring in various timelines. Timetravel has been a thing for a good while, too. WoD lore was perfectly in line with Warcraft lore. I know it’s cool to bash on it for no reason, but I’m curious as to why you think that stuff or felt the need to throw that in this thread with no actual constructive input. From what I’ve heard people had a really good time RPing in Draenor during WoD times.
I get your point, but I still think WoD’s lore was awful, especially nearing the end where Grommash was hailed as a hero and you were pretty much forced to team up and save a genocidal butcher and pretend nothing happened. Personal opinion, perhaps.
I too have heard people had a great time RPing in Draenor, great for them. But perhaps that was because there was nothing else to do in the expansion.
I wish I could bash on WoD for no reason, but it’s still even compared to BfA. Unpopular opinion, but at least I have something to do in BfA and I’ve enjoyed my fair share of RP so far. I could say the same about people bashing and following the BfA hate train just because it’s “cool”. But I rest my case, I don’t want to derail.
I see, thanks for your feed backs and ideas everyone!
Seems a campaign would work fine and as Zenys said, can be a timewalking campaign for people RPing their mag’hars or even the recruitment scenario, and some draenei and Lightforged can make a Lightbound or npc profile for that! I always liked the idea of timewalking, and perhaps this can do fine!
@Sainur
I understand friend! Not all lore were good or cool in everyone’s eyes, and there were indeed points which the lore could’ve been improved! Though i think this one can work fine for those that are interested and liked wod/ orc/ mag’har or even draenei lore
If you want to bash the lore at least acknowledge it was changed halfway through Alpha/Beta testing because they decided to work on Legion instead (Which I personally think is worse than WoD but that’s just me).
Not to mention the scrapped raid tier expanding on the Draenei and Yrel, potentially tying some loose ends up in the process /shrug
@OP
It’s a niche RP, but I think if you can find the people for it, it can be a fun thing
I’d be interested in playing out the consequences of the orcs defeating the Primals, fulfilling the legacy of Grond and dooming Draenor to desiccation with the draenei scrambling to unify the world to heal it as we are shown.
Word spreads of the wilds of Gorgrond dying, crops failing and the desert growing even as the orcs celebrate. The Light can restore life, but the orcs in their pride stubbornly insist on destruction and the draenei win only a few allies by the High Exarch’s unwavering vision, violence feeding violence until the orcs are subdued.
There is even more to that. Gorgrond was meant to be bastion of Iron Horde and we were meant to be introduced to Orgrim as a Horde and see Maraad becoming more and more hateful towards the orcs as Alliance, but players complained that there are too many orcs everywhere, so they put what was apparently meant to be Farahlon lore into Gorgrond.
