Hello all,
I’ve been experiencing issues with my audio lately (months now). The audio will suddenly just decrease to a level, where you can only slightly here what’s going on. If I turn up my volume at this point, to match this new level, but the audio will at some point turn itself back to it’s orginal, which results in overly loud audio level, due to having turned up the volume.
Ofcourse I could just let it be this way, but the frustrating to this has been growing over time, as I can’t even tell what triggers this, except that i’m sure it happens when i’m in combat (as far i’m concerned).
I should state, that whenever this occurs, I cannot see any changes to my audio settings in-game nor the settings on the pc. I’ve been tracking this a lot lately, but it never shows any differences.
I should note that this problem ONLY occurs when I play wow. It never happens when i’m watching something, playing other games etc.
“Fixes” that i’ve tried so far:
-
Unplugging speakers and and replugging. Checking if should be a hardware problem. Couldnt find any visible problem here.
-
Tested other speakers, with the same result
-
Turned off all enhancements for the speaker settings
-
Unchecked “allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”
-
Checked “Do nothing”, in the communication section, in speaker settings
-
In-game settings - Output device: Speakers
-
In-game settings - Unchecked “Distance filtering”
-
In-game settings - Disabled all keybindings that affects audio settings, such as “master volume up/down, toggle music, sound” etc.
-
Run a “scan and repair” on the game, in the battlenet app.
-
Checked windows for updates (it’s up to date)
-
Checked drivers for updates (all is updated)
-
Checked my mouse keybindings, to see if there was any keys that could interfere with anything. Even disabled some keys that I don’t use, to be sure it can’t be the cause.
-
Checked my keyboard keybindings and disabled all buttons that can affect audio/volume settings
-
Run a speaker test.
-
Put speakers to “speaker”, rather than surround and other options, in speakers settings.
I should say, that i’m playing @ wotlk classic, and i’ve never had any audio issues in the past, but i’m starting to be highly suspicious that the drop of Dragonflight and their newly updated overhaul of menu, could be the reason. I haven’t been able to check it earlier, as I was doing some last exams when it came out and after that doing my bachelor, which left me to be completely inactive for the period, only to return to these issues, which I find oddly strange. However, I neither can or will confirm this, as I simply don’t posses the knowledge to be the judge of that.
At this point I feel like i’m running into a wall trying to fix this, extremely annoying issue. I would welcome any suggestions at this point, as I feel like i’ve tried all kinds of things already. Not sure if i’ve forgotten to put some “fixes”, that i’ve tried on the list, but i’ll sure remember it, if someone happens to mention them.
If anyone out there has any ideas about some “fixes” or solutions, please feel free to post them. I’ll be more than happy to test it out and I would gladly appreciate it. ![]()
