So we have spec that in 4/4 first seasons since it was introduced was meta in m+. Then in 5th season it was nerfed, but it seems it is not acceptable for blizzard that this spec is bad so 15% buff put it in almost meta bracket, so we can be in situatuin where it is meta in 5/5 seasons. Still there are specs that were never meta in m+ in 10 years. Conclusion is aug is spec that has treatment that no one ever had and never will have. Why is this spec so important to blizzard? And all that while communitly hate this spec and wants it deleted. I cannot understand really.

The way it’s designed makes it either completely broken, or completely useless.
What class/spec do you think hasn’t been meta in m+ for 10 years though? Just interested more than anything.

Fury, arms, feral, affliction, demonology, BM, MM, assa, frost mage, retri… And when any of those or other is bad it usually stays bad, but for aug it is different, they are not allowed to be bad.
I believe frost mage was meta in shadowlands s2.
Ret was almost on par with Aug in s3 dragonflight. While not exactly meta, it did more title range keys than any other spec. Ret was crazy strong.
I dont mind meta rets.
But meta Augs? It creates oppressive comps. You choose an Aug. You choose the FOTM DPS that aligns CDs with Aug. You choose any of the priest specs for PI. And DONE.
I don’t think that is a healthy way to make efficient comps.

Proven by the past 4 seasons. I am the #1 Aug hater. The spec single-handedly destroyed m+.
And yet augs use the excuse „if it’s not Aug it will just be another meta dps“. That’s literally not the point. God I swear Aug mains are the dumbest people alive.

I still think augs should be turned into either a meele DPS or a tank spec. Preferably with the option to hide the wings cause that looks like a hindrance on close combat
Blizzard could simply bite the bullet say that it was a mistake and delete it.
We all make mistakes you know… its OK.
Well they would also admit that by completing changing it.
I don’t know if deleting it would be necessary the class could get a big portion of black dragon flight stuff by being meele or tank since I think that would fit very good and that would be a win
Because Evoker as a whole class already struggles to find its identity.
The only thing going for them is their “charge up” frontal spells. But other than that, the whole spec (Deva and PEvoker) are nothing else than a copy-paste of existing healer/DD mechanics.
PEvoker for example has a huge problem. All healers have a 40 yard range for a reason. That reason has existed since Vanilla. And every time blizzard made 1 spell with less than 40 yard range, it got quickly tuned back to 40 yards.
Now. They made a whole spec who’s mechanics are literally all the “cool stuff” from the other healers. In exchange, they get a range limitation of 20 yards. But crazy mobility.
They dug themselves a nice grave. Where on the on hand, if they increase the range to 40 yards the whole spec is instantly OP. Imagine their “dream breath” cone that now has a 40 yard range. You literally cover a whole room with it and can potentially heal a 30 man raid simultaneously all at once.

And that got nerfed to the ground precisely for that reason. Its too powerful if you can cover a whole room full of people. No matter how little it heals. You cant have a Healer CD that should have a 3/5 min CD as a spell you spam every 20s.
So. If you try to balance all that out. The only possible conclusion is that it sucks, or is OP.
Just because they forgot that 40 yard range healer spells are a thing that is ingrained deep into the games mechanics. And they cant change that.
But PEvoker is OK. Its fine. Its just 1 healer that will sit in F tier unless its OP and sits in S tier.
But Aug? You make it into a tank, with what skills? It would make it too similar to existing specs. And to balance it out, you would need to remove a lot of its fantasy. Like a tank. A tank with a charge up breath attack? How would that work? It wont. It needs to be instant cast. Like ALL other tank abilities.

Is absolutely pointless if all they do is get Shield Slam, Revenge, and Thunder Clap… change the icon’s color to black. And call it a different name.
That is not “black dragonflight”. Its a transmoged warrior (if they do that, but you get the point) into an ugly black lizard.
I mean you are not wrong but that sounds like we are at the end point of wow when it comes to classes.
I highly doubt blizz can pull of any new specs or classes without them reminding you of already existing spell and mechanics.
And at least for me that would be sad news cause if they stop doing new classes and specs because of that I know my interest in wow would take a hot over time.
That’s why I take long long breaks from hots cause I never get new chars and that gets boring at some point even so I love that game
Yes. Its my opinion. And they can do the same thing other fantasy class games do: mess around with sub classes to expand variety. Like a warrior-mage. Stuff like that.
But either way. I think classes are fine. They tune and rework them often enough that if you played 1 class every 6 months, it would take you 10 years to cycle through them.
The warrior you play now. Has nothing to do with the warrior you played 10 years ago. Its a totally different class.
So IMO there is enough variety for those that want it.
I don’t know sure the classes change but a fury is a fury and stays a fury you know.
But that ofcourse is a me problem I like to have new stuff.
But wow is almost perfect to be honest only thing I miss are a meele that uses only one one handed weapon a actually good meele pet spec and a DPS meele that uses a shield.
Oh and of course for affection to be a dot and not a burst spec again ^^
90% of those specs you listed still outshines Aug by a mile, the only reason you would take Aug over it is because it offers utility only a support spec can, and that can only be solved by making it unplayable, reworking it from a support, or the last option which I greatly prefer, adding more specs so it isn’t the only support in the game.
