The paladin watches over his party and raid members group gaining a stack of Reckoning each time they are struck in combat. Reaching ( balanced amount of stacks e.g. 100/150/200 depending on party and raid size ) stacks the paladin sends his allies on a crusade activating ( personal class cds ) for 25% of their duration.
Bring back full party blessings (kings, might and wisdom) and make aura of reckoning buff current blessing of members when it procs
We really need a buff to make us desireable in PvE content. Back in the days having a ret had actual beneficial effects and people had a reason to bring us.
Please write your opinion and change numbers for balance sake
There are many ideas floating around on how to make rets more desirable, some of them more creative than others. I enjoy reading them, but the fact is that there have never ever been new abilities added in random patches in the middle of expansions.
What we have is SL ret, and it will remain like this until the next expansion minimum. Most attention we can hope to get is some number tweaking. As such, the only realistic way to make SL ret more desirable, is to end up on the higher end of the melee dps spectrum, and get invites purely for the numbers we put out, kinda like how resto shamans or ww monks have been doing.
That is actually an amazing idea. And if it would end up being OP in raids or high m+ you could change it to proc stacs on critical hits or hits higher than % of HP or simply as you saied increase/balance stacks according to group.
Blessing of Kings helped people stay alive longer since it provides more shielding, effective for tanks and PvP situations. I rather have that than 10% stats, if I wanted stats I’ll just stick with my flasks and foods.
You mean that really old thing with damage reflect which could be up to 30% of tanks total dps in a dungeon? Would at least help tanks keeping the aggro when ret starts to AoE.
But making the Aura a flat 3% damage buff for all party and raid members would be something everyone wants, like the several existing 5% buffs. It’s not as original as Aura of Reckoning but easier to implement without testings.
No matter how they change the Aura, the only Paladin in a dungeon or raid who is holy shouldn’t be forced to stay in Ret Aura at cost of on demand 15% defensive buff.
Maybe just make Aura Mastery combine Ret, Def and Conc Aura with stronger effects except ret aura so that wouldn’t be an issue.
I think that every Paladin spec should have Aura Mastery, and each spec should have different focuses with that Aura Mastery. For example buffing Devotion Aura should be generic baseline for everyone.
Also each other aura should be focused by certain spec. So for example Ret’s specific aura is Retribution aura - Aura Mastery should have special effect when Retribution Aura is active. Maybe some damage bonus when Mastery is up, maybe increased versatility or something like that.
For Holy Concentration Aura should be focused and have some additional effect, and for Prot Crusader Aura should have additional effect - for example apart from increasing mounted speed passively all the time it would also increase non-mounted-speed by like 30% or apply Blessing of Freedom party wide for the duration of Aura Mastery being up.
Auras and Aura Mastery are nice places to not only give all Paladins some nice utility, but also different utility so each spec has something nice for the party. Prot and Holy would probably have pretty bad spec-specific aura effects, but it’s not actually them who need help in that matter. It’s Ret that needs help. For Prot buffing Devotion Aura would definitely be best as it would be pretty much another defensive in his arsenal.
Blessing of Kings: Increases the primary stat of all allies within 40 yards by 5%.
Sanctified Blessing of Kings: Sanctifies your current target, increasing their main stat by 15% for 5 minutes. Only 1 Sanctified Blessing can be active per paladin per blessing. Reagent: Sanctified Idol of Ancient Kings
Blessing of Wisdom: Blesses a target with wisdom, increasing their mana regeneration rate by 10%.
Sanctified Blessing of Wisdom: Sanctifies your current target, increasing their mana regeneration rate by 30% for 5 minutes. Only 1 Sanctified Blessing can be active per paladin per blessing. Reagent: Sanctified Idol of Wisdom
Sanctified blessings: 5 min cooldown, empowers current blessing.
Selfless Paragon: If you apply a Sanctified Blessing to any group memeber you gain 10% increase in primary stat or 17.5% increase in mana regeneration.
Paladin balancing: Done before blessing taken into account for personal dmg, therefore blessing always provides a real increase in throughput and not a pseudo-increase due to balancing making the class deal 100% of it’s potential damage with the blessing active, but other classes dealing 105% of their potential damage.
That shield was very weak that is the point. Plus 10% stats includes stamina which increases the health of the player and is thus much more than an 1% life shield every 30s.
Also flask and food does not increase more than one stat.
Blessing of kings increased health, attack power and crit.
